Whoops!I almost forgot I posted this. I got this little tidbit from Fripp's diary and the liner notes from Absent Lovers (recorded live here in Montreal a show which I attended ) Bob's Dad was a coal miner. It's funny though, you WOULD expect him to have been a minister or accountant or some thing to do with academics.

| How long was he a coal-miner? Asked because Fripp's home town on the English south coast is at least 60 miles from a coal mine , assumed still opened in the 40's and 50's. During WW2 young strong health men could be conscripted into the mines to "keep the home fires burning" - '39 to '45. |
