I was thinking to make ProgArchive's page on Wikipedia, so more and more people are into progarchives and prog rock as a whole ...
I've made a new page, but maybe you can edit it so its even better (I made it in 5 minutes though )

Yeah, why not, although i'm not sure if it will actually get that many to become proggers, as PA is rather something whitch travels mouth to mouth (so to speak...in actuality you just link someone), and it's easier to just direct people here than to a wikipedia page. :) Still, a wikipedia page is the LEAST we deserve..

Come on be positive.. In fact there is an external link from progressive rock page on wikipedia to progarchives.com, which is very good..

Of course, but i'm just sceptical about the odds of someone just..accidentally stumbling upon it while browsing :) I found it through the imdb forum on "the wall", but perhaps other people move in other places of the web than i do. No, i'd love it to draw people into the world of great music, and something's always better than anything, so.
(Edit.. yeah, actually, that was me.. i didn't really add anything, though.. what more needs to be said, you think? I'd love to write something more, i just don't know the place as well as most others do. I haven't even made a review yet, haha...)

Cygnus X-2(Robert "Cyggie")- A prolific reviewer and the Neo Prog team captain, Cyg is one of the most intelligent and open minded velveteers. Lover Rush, Adrian Belew and Zappa too much.
The Miracle(Ansen)- A very open minded toward prog and a punk hater, he is one of the nicest members of the crew.

Ricochet(Victor "Rico")- Our favorite Romanian, Rico is the forum's biggest fan of Klaus Schulze and Tangerine Dream, he is a very nice guy and a prolific reviewer.
Bj-1(Bjørnar "Blowie")- The inventor of "terminateding", he is a fun little walrus from Norwegia, addicted to buying new CD's.
King Of Loss(Xiaojie "Flossy")- A huge Daniel Gildenlow, Roine Stolt, Neal Morse and soccer fanboy he is the only azn in the Crew. He likes to say "[insert anything] sucks ass!/sucks huge monjey balls!" and "GET ON AIM!!!!11!!!1"
TheProgtologist(Jody)- The oldest, the most mature person and the only admin to post in the Velvet Room, he is a member of the prog metal team and has one of the biggest music collections on PA(over 5000 original CD's)

Should actually think of re-writing the history of the site: It has been in existence since 2002 , but was owned by a resident of Florida and existed more in the form of the DPRP.
Max and Ron bought it from him, after Ron stopped his own site (ProgLands) and the Forum and Database under their actrual form were created start of 2004.
Ask Max or Ron for more details.
Dude, Peter, Maani and Danbo were among the first members of the forum

If you want to become part of the team, I suggest you take a step into the Velvet Room.
However, be sure to bring everything you need first because once you're in, there's no way out!
| I could do that, but people tend to think that new posters that post in those kinds of topics are just out for postcounts :) then again, this is one of the most friendly forums i've ever had the pleasure of visiting. I guess it's a quality that's just inheritedly "prog", haha...

Yes, except we've kind of mention The Velvet Crew in a separate entry and it's been frowned upon (which is fair enough). I agree with Evans, it may scare people off knowing that us mad'uns in The Velvet Room are about.
| Really, just knowing someone by the name of "The progtologist" lurks about would be enough for me :)

| Haha, that sounds great. Thanks for the invite.. It will have to be in the future though, as it's kinda late where i am. However, i'm gonna finish by asking a pretty unrelated question; Has anybody ever been kicked out of PA due to... unorthodox behavior (niiice...)? Any trolls you've needed to get rid of?

The section on The Velvet Crew is irrelavent to the layperson and may infact put people off reading the wiki entry, therefore it has gone.
The entry still exists in its own right at a separate wiki entry, but that will also soon disappear.
If we can make the relavent changes and not make it seem like an advert for the site, then there maybe a saving grace, but we'll have to be quick about it.
Wikipedia has strict guidlines.
I do however have an idea...
If we let them delete it, but save all the information... we can then make a much better entry from the old one and repost it and not have the previous edit history, that the current entry has.
Therefore, people won't have to read all the previous edit histories and read all the irrelavent stuff that was there originally.

We don't need the Velvet Crew part Ansen, I'm happy to see it go.
I'm referring to the PA entry, which is still there for the time being.

You need to highlight the fact that it's one of the few prog rock music sites that let anyone review an album (if they have an account of course) and that the admins are strict on which reviews will be kept. You also need to highlight that those albums reviewed by prog reviewers and specialists, get a higher waiting, because these collaborators have been given the titles, because the admins feel they bring a vital addition to the website.
You also need to mention (but without going into detail), that the forum has a few members that are in bands that appear in the archives themselves. Yes the site may not get media coverage so much, but I know a lot of bands, such as White Willow, list the wesbite on their website. That's coverage.

I suggest you follow these rules as well:
1) Completely non-objective. Purely informational.
2) No mention whatsoever of any perticular member.
3) No mention whatsoever of "The Velvet Crew" or any similar likeness.
4) Don't mention any band members who may also be members on the forum without their consent.
5) If any member or review by a member appears in a picture, get consent from that member/reviewer before posting that image.

I've just noticed that ultimate-guitar has been put up for deletion twice and it was even deleted on one occasion... so the fact that that website is there, tells me we should be there too. Yes, we may not have as many members as them and we also may not provide tablature, but we do provide a wealth of reviews on prog albums, many of which are rare and don't have many reviews associated with them. These reviews are vital to people who may find an old vinyl in a shop and want to know further information.

I quite agree, Stonie.
When I mentioned that there are band members on the forum, I didn't mean naming either the band in question, or the band member(s), but just mention the factual information that some band members do post here.
I think, apart from M@x and Ronie, we have deleted all mention of members on there and don't plan to add any in either. The Velvet Crew and Swelsh information has also gone and rightly so.
The image in question was added by Imoeng, so if he wishes to ask the member in question whether it's fine to use his review example (which you cannot read clearly anyhow), he can do.

^ I do not mind that Season's End was the album being reviewed in that picture, though.
