john mitchell of arena, the urbane and lately kino is replacing francis dunnery on vocals and guitar, who is unable to take part due to his residency in the U.S. since mitchell, john beck and bob dalton have already been together in kino and pete trewavas is currently busy with the next marillion album, this will probably make kino obsolete (richard nolan will "replace" trewavas on bass). interesting prospect though. i think that dunnery is way too central to the it bites-sound to ever be replaceable, but, hey, i am ready to be surprised and i look forward to follow their renewed path "once around the world". ------------- progressive rock and rural tranquility don't match. true or false? |

Wow. Love It Bites... ...but as much as I enjoy Kino, I think too much of the sound of It Bites is directly a result of Francis Dunnery's vocals (John Mitchell is a good vocalist, but nowhere near Francis), his playing (I DO think Mitchell could cover this), and his songwriting. While I am simply jazzed about hearing this classic music again, I will wait to see how the new line-up handles the classic songs, but I suspect any new material will inevitably sound like Kino (not a bad thing). Eventually I hope for a full on reunion to hit the states. well, if mitchell can pull off all these little warblings
that dunnery comes up with like – pardon me – "chumchumchumchumchouwwa- dowayayoooo–googagack-zack-rrrrrrt" in "plastic dreamer" – and he has played that song, when they did the KINO thing – he is most certainly the man for the job! i wonder what ol' frank dun' thinks of these developments? he is an outspoken character after all and – from what i've heard – carries a bit of a chip on his shoulder from time to time. ------------- progressive rock and rural tranquility don't match. true or false? |

I betcha ol' Frank bowed out because of the stars or something, what with being all astrology-obsessed of late. While I really liked Kino, they didn't strike me as all that It Bitesy, but maybe that was deliberate. If they decide to go in a more IB direction, I for one won't complain. -------------

[/QUOTE] i beg to differ – AOR can at times sound very cheesy and has a very conservative air about it – that's two attributes that i would never associate IB with – i'd say 80's wave pop in a prog disguise – opinions? ------------- progressive rock and rural tranquility don't match. true or false? |
