That's a question for my friends of the PM team... I've read very positive reviews of this band, especially of their "Burn the Sun" album. Then I've listened to the MP3 available here on PA. I already knew Jorn Lande's voice from a couple of his solo tracks I'd heard on other occasions. Great singer, often compared to David Coverdale, but clearer and more powerful, as far as I've been able to judge.

So, my metallic friends, what can you tell me about this band, and what can you recommend me?

The first album is superb as far as the songs and musicianship but suffers from bad production.Burn the Sun is incredible and I highly recommend it.

I am a Jorn Lande freak, and if you like him I would suggest trying to get your hands on some of his other work. His solo albums are good but pure power metal,as is his work with his band Masterplan(he left Ark to dedicate more time to this project).Masterplan's album Aeronautics I recommend highly too.

He also sings on Beyond Twilight's first album(excellent)The Devil's Hall of Fame.

I've always found Ark just to be another dull Dream Theater soundalike, but that's just me.

I find ARK to be a virtuoso band (grat vocals) but not that prog...
Its quite mainstream power metal in my eyes (ears), but thats ok. Burn the sun is good, but not really my thing. But its worth checking out just because of the vocals!

Damn you Progtologist, you copied my Zeppelin picture...get your own!!!AngryAngryAngryAngry

naaa its al good LOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOL

They are definitely influenced by 70s Heavy Rock bands especially Purple/Rainbow and I can also hear some Scorpions.

Check out my review of their debut album:

agree with your comments Tony, especially Lande's voice reminds of David Coverdale
I am a big fan of Ostby's riffs
(ex-Conception R.I.P.     )
and in these two albums the man is producing excellent music
both albums are highly recommended IMO
I prefer the first for its more '70's and spanish' approach and I disagree with the Progtologist on the production matter. I absolutely love it

I would give both at least 4 stars

ok, I thought you meant that but wasn't sure
yes Mr. Lande is a bit of a 'lover'...
like his biggest influence, (as mentioned before) Coverdale
