Noticed this review on the front page. I do not know the band, but this seems to be describing a bootleg [repeated on another review and the album description], and as such shouldn't be here.

THE RESIDENTS — Baby Sex

Review by ../Collaborators.asp?id=759 - penguindf12 (Dex F.)
PROG REVIEWER 2 stars Firstly, to clear things up: this is probably 3 stars at best, not the gross overrating of 5 that someone gave it earlier. This early piece of The RESIDENTS' work remains officially unreleased. However, through the grace of the internet, it can obtained only by a large amount of blood, sweat, and tears (I myself still haven't been able to get it - all I've heard of it are MP3 streams of it from a very obscure source). The reasons it is not more available are: A) The RESIDENTS are somewhat embarrassed by its sophomoric nature; B) The sound quality is somewhat inferior; C) It is very obscure anyway to all but RESIDENTS fans; and D) In accordance with their "Theory of Obscurity", because it is so revealing of their nature in the early years, it may endanger their anonymity (much like reason A).

I think they should stay, they are an important document of one of the best and most creative ensembles to ever walk the earth. While not officially released, I see no problem in including them in the site.

Even if they break site policy? Shocked

Sorry, but if these are unauthorised releases, then they do indeed break site policy. Others have already been removed from other bands, so why should this be an exception?

I don't really see that they break site policy, as they are important steps in the band's career and every fan knows about them of course. Maybe it's just because I am a ResFan, and that's why I think they should/could be here. I won't be offended if they get removed, but I don't think it's absolutely necessary to do so.

I agree with Zac M, but then again I did spend a LOT of time researching the track listings for those, and that review took me hours!! Why blindly uphold such a policy? If you think about it, you'll realize that the "no bootlegs" rule is in place largely to prevent fakes and repeat material, and an excess of crap. HOWEVER, the albums I added are legit Residents material, withheld only because of their own "Theory of Obscurity". The albums have been, in fact, played on radio before (Oregon, 1977). Really, can not an exception be made in this case? The purpose of this site is to promote progressive music - and there are precious few places on the internet you can find reviews of these albums.

Please reconsider.
