Someone must have suggested this before...(I'm terrible at searches)

I think it would be better to rank songs rather than an album.

1. people can buy individual songs now. which is preferable to buying a whole album when there are some really bad songs or non-prog on the album.

2. ranking songs allows people to see how many good prog songs are on an album (and also on best hits albums, compilations)

3. ranking songs allows songs from artists who are not prog, but who have one or two prog songs in their collection

4. The album will get a ranking based on the songs scores.

I disagree, albums are more attractive overall

the album is the whole effort of an artist and should be 'judged' on his overall effort

within the ranking of the album, great songs can be pointed out by the reviewer

Hmmm... I don't think so, really.

Bands release albums, not songs; so it's better to review albums instead of songs.

I'll add my voice of dissent. Many of my favorite artists (and in fact my own band) write music that's intended to be experienced in one sitting, whether it's a concept album, or just an overall "feel". Proggers don't make Single Serving Friends (sorry, had to make the Fight Club reference).

Agree!

And who cares if 1-2 of the songs aren't prog?? Music can be great without beign prog (though most prog music pwns most other musicWink)
