It has happened years before in 1981 when AC Milan was relegated for the similar reasons. Do you think Juventus, AC Milan, Fiorentina, etc. will be relegated from Serie A?

I think they should be relegated to Serie Z myself, the Italians sure love a scandal

This one doesn't, I can tell you... And I'd be grateful if people could avoid such generalisations. I happen to agree with you on the fact that they should be relegated to Serie Z, or even expelled forever from any competition (which, of course, will never happen) - but I really take exception to anyone implying that EVERY Italian is dishonest or wallows in scandal and such.Angry

These teams obviously deserve it, let's forget about the money and power these teams have for once and do what is right.

Of course they do! Most people in Italy would agree that they deserve relegation and even more. Remember that I often wrote here that Italy should have withdrawn from the Cup. What I resent are implications that all Italians are dishonest - many are, but many (including yours truly) are not.

I didn't want to imply in any way that Italians in general are dishonest - quite the opposite it seems! The will to root out these criminals is very respectable.

I doubt that they would get as much punishment as relegation to Serie B and perhaps a large fine, but like AC Milan, these money-filled clubs will always win in the end.

I don't even think any clubs other than Juventus will be relegated, these clubs might just get points taken off their total and excluded from Champions League for a year.

A football (soccer) scandal in Italy is taking its toll. One Italian referee's accreditation to the upcoming World Cup in Germany has been withdrawn, and prosecutors have ordered more than 40 people to face questioning. The Vatican has denounced the scandal as an offense to sport.

With less than a month before the World Cup Championship in Germany, the attention of Italians is focused on a scandal that has engulfed the country's national sport. Radio and television broadcasts and pages and pages of newspapers are devoted to the football scandal.

Prosecutors have opened a massive investigation into allegations of fixing games and illegal betting. The Italian football federation Saturday withdrew the World Cup accreditation of a well-known referee, after he was implicated in the scandal.

Four teams in the top-level Series A are involved so far: Juventus, Milan, Lazio and Fiorentina.

Also BBC and several other on-line news have information about this scandal. I googgled "Italian football scandal".

The latest rumour is Juve will be relegated 3 divisions, and AC Milan 1.

That would be many people's dream come true, I think. Juve is hated by all those who are not fans of it, who have spent decades wondering why it kept winning "scudetti" (now 29) while other teams had to struggle to even win one. However, I will believe it when I see it...Unhappy

Although I would hate seeing Juventus in liga B

Sending that fascist club Lazio Roma and Berlusconi's club Milan AC in provincial leagues would be fitting punishment, just for being what they are!!!!!!! Big smileEvil Smile

In Belgium, La Louvière is relagated to THIRD LEAGUE, because of the same type of game-fixing

Of course Juventus, Milan, Lazio and Fiorentina should be at the very least relegated  and should be fined. Fixing games and paying off referees is cheating period. I have a feeling though that due to the power of the teams involved they may just get off with heavy fines.Confused

Although my brother, who is a Lazio supporter, wouldn't agree with you... But I would also love to see Juve relegated. They've been fixing matches for years, and yet they're the only football team who's never been relegated, not even once. They highly deserve it!Angry

You may know something I do not about Juve.

I thought this was the club all of Italy liked (even in the South) because they had better ethics than other clubs (at least from Belgium it appeared so) and regurlarly helped kids in the poorer southern part of Italy
