Not sure if the Blod are regarded as off-topic round these parts but I've been enjoying the reissued Ahead Rings Out. Firmly in the underground blues camp there's nevertheless some early proggy tinges here and there - although these would be further developed on their excellent second album, Getting To This. | Yeah I think that Blodwyn Pig belong here- there's a jazz rock tinge to their work, but still I feel they'd be a much better candidate for a 'progressive blues' section' that has been mooted a while back. Great album- the remaster plumped for the US running order that had their most famous song 'See My Way', when the last CD had the UK one, but a ton of extra stuff (EMI really did a great job with this album) more than compensates. Top notch reissue. |
