If there is any film director who could be described as "prog", it would be Peter Greenaway. His films are cerebral, intricately structured, complex and experimental. On the negative side, his work could be described as pretentious, over-elaborate and lacking in human warmth, all of which are criticisms which could be at levelled a prog - with a certain justification.

Oh, and the Michael Nyman scores , could be described as pretty proggy too.

What do you lot reckon?

How about early Scorsese, "Mean Streets", or "Passion of Christ"? (Peter Gabriel soundtrack)

I loved Greenaway until the late 90's >>> his first lesser film is baby Of Macon, but his last two or three films have been rather deceiving.

Drowning By Numbers, Belly Of The Architect and The Cook, the thief etc..  are awesome films

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

The one I love is "the Draughtman's Contract". Every apsect of this film - the camerawork, the music, the locations, the costumes, the dialogues, the plot - is a delight to be savoured over and over again.
