From the little time I have spent on this site.. I have come to notice a spreading interest surrounding the new band entitled "Zaar". Now having heard their debut album I can understand why! They play a rich mix of chamber rock, Zeuhl and Rock in Opposition in the finest manor.

Since receiving their album late last week it has scarisly left my player, having all but fallen in love with this band. Big smile

You will find a sample song to listen to from their artist page on Cuneiform Records... enjoy

I love the song that starts out sounding like VH's Eruption and ends up sounding like zappa.  intense.

Hey BV,
I think you already know my thuoghts about Zaar.
I am now looking for Sotos, since your description of it makes me think that I will like it as I do Zaar.
Great to hear such promising new bands.

*nods*
You should definately track the Sotos album down. I don't find it as refined as the Zaar album, I find Zaar sounds kind of as if Yan Hazera and Michael Hazera picked up from when Sotos disbanded... but never less a good addition to your collection.

Hmmm... I was hoping this would get a few more replies. This really is a fantastic band, not just for those lovesrs of RIO/avant-garde.

^^^
That is the usual problem. If the thread is not about sensational things like some known band or a fight between members, it does not get many views or replies.

Probably not many know this band, but if they at least see the thread and it makes them go and listen to them, then that is more than I can wish for.

But even if someone does not know the band, she/he sohuld not by shy and ask what do they sound like, where are available samples etc.

I suggested them to the RIO/Avant team a few months ago - love their album!

A splendid album from an extremely promising band. Like Sotos' debut it's a bit uneven, but they followed it up with a near masterpiece and I think they'll do it again.

I have just been sent a copy of this for review so it will be interesting to see how this one pans out. Never heard their music up until now.
