Perhaps their web site will tell you?

looking at the M-Audio site it is a midi controller. It should have midi out which connects to the computer- your sound card will need a midi input jack or you won't be able to use it anyway. Here is the quote from the specs:
'separate MIDI out jack routes MIDI signals from your computer to control external devices'. As such I would say it is a midi controller unit ie. you can record midi signals on your computer using some sort of midi app (Sonar Pro-Audio etc) and either play them back from the synth chip on the soundcard or send it out to other external device players (from the computer) to a midi player or some such.

Yeah,

Novation again:

Novation Remote SL Zero

or

Behringer BCR2000 or BCF2000

But Novation still better choice.
