There has been a TON of great prog from various countries.  What country do YOU think houses the best prog bands?

You can include 25 countries if you want to, and yet you leave out Germany, France, Belgium and The Netherlands (to name some important ones)! Sorry, but that makes the poll pointless.

Over land and under ashes
In the sunlight, see - it flashes
Find a fly and eat his eye
But don't believe in me
Don't believe in me
Don't believe in me

Hence the other category...those countries didn't exactly spring to mind.

Most of my favourite bands come England, both prog and non-prog.

Voted "other" trying to say "Everywhere"... all music is welcome in my collection, if it is any good for my ears (or for my plants or cat)... and ¿you get to vote in your own polls? that I didn't knew...

I'm going outside the zone here and going  Italy.... lots of albums there who many have never heard of.. that with proper exposure (ie. being in english and easily accessible to many buyers) would be held as classics of the genre.  Groups like Semiramis or Museo Rosenbach that dropped off the face of the earth after one album.. that did albums that rank up there with ANYTHING that came out of England.

I say Finland, but that general area is pretty righteous for prog (Sweden and Norway). Of course they have some pretty ridiculous metal coming out of there too, so who knows what's going on over there.

I chose "other" because Germany is not up there!
Ouch
Though, England follows very closely.

This is at least the second time such a pole has been run in the last 2-30 months, and again the Netherlands is left off.
Ouch

You make a good point, but it's limited to exposure. Based on that I have to go with England, but if you want to go back a little further we could easily say central Europe. A town called Vienna comes to mind.

Not being jingoistic here but for me it has to be England, just one glance at the top ten of the progarchives top 100 prog albums shows why
