i went to it in 2004, it was great, drove down from new york, but could only stay for the first day, even though i intended to be there the entire time, but that a long story, but it was nice, it's a very intimate prog setting

last year i couldn't go, and this year my sister is getting married that weekend, there is no winning when it comes to prog sometimes, at least not in the US

I'll probably be there Micky. I went last year for the second time. Before that in 02. Last year I posted about PD. Not sure if I have met you in person or not. I try to support PD by mentioning it to people(I'm not a volunteer though). I live in PA so it's kind of a far drive for me. This year I might take an airplane. Anyway, it seems to be a good lineup so far: Echolyn, Spiraling, Hamster Theatre, Woodenhead and Uzva. Regardless of how I get there I'm definitely going to try to go.

Yup, I'm planning on making the trip from Fairfax, VA (Suburban DC). Got family in NC, so I have a place to stay, too.

hahaha... wise move... don't know if you looked at the pictures on the website for the show... no shade anywhere.  That sun can be merciless..  A winter visit would be great the winters almost make up for the summers here.

Yes, those darn setteling affairs...

Let's speak hypothetically:
I am located at Stony Brook, NY.
Say I get an ariplane (won't have a car yet) and get to the nearest city possible to where this takes place.
Do you think a flight will be easy to catch and how long is it? Plus where is it that I am going? I know it's North Carolina (I need to cross the Mason Dixon LOL) but where?
Just fantasizing.

you'd fly into Raleigh which is roughly half an hour from Chapel Hill... a flight should be easy.. a couple of hours max.. the cost... hmm... I haven't flown since 9-11 so I really haven't paid much attention to airline ticket prices.  The area is called the triangle.. Raleigh Durham and Chapel Hill make up the points of an imaginary triangle.  For example Duke University in Durham and UNC in Chapel Hill are 12 miles apart so everything is fairly close to each other. If you really consider it let me know... IF I am able to wiggle away from that  reunion... I might be able to take care of you lodging and transportation.

I'll have an answer for you before then as to whether I can go and not risk paying $2000 a month in child support ahahhah Wink  This is one case where being married to one who is a non-prog fan,  sucks LOL  I think a sudden case of Malaria is my best bet... either that or a BIG diamond ring for our 10 year anniversery in August.  hmmm... I think I'd rather do the malairia... less painful Ouch  Seriously though... I think she'll be ok with it.. but you never know... you just never know hahah.

Well I've been posting some messages too. I actually already booked my hotel room but didn't get a ticket yet. I'm also looking for people to hang out with drink a beer with and have dinner with once I'm down there. If anyone isn't tagging along with other people(I'm going down by myself) and is interested please send me a pm.

Sorry man can't afford another trip east.  But you will enjoy Spiraling.  Saw them twice and enjoyed the hell out of them. Not real proggy but very fun nonetheless. Maybe they will dust off Soundchaser like they did at Calprog last year.

Echolyn should be fantastic.  I don't know much about the others. Ermm

Anyway have a great two days. Thumbs Up  I love prgo festivals.
Shouldn't it be Prog Days?  Wink

Yeah, I learned about this on the Progressive Ears website. I also am on the mailing list and so I saw it again there. I have seen IZZ at least two times and I agree that they are a great band. In fact one time was at PD 02 where they had to improvise with acoustic instruments due to the fact that their power went out for a while during their performance. These guys are great and really a great bunch of folks too. I look forward to their show.

O.K. I'll try to do that. It would probably be easier if I just tell the whole band that. Actually, why don't you just tell them yourself? It's going to be a great weekend and I'm sure you won't be the only one from the West Coast there.

Believe me we would love to go.Cry  We just had to move because the woman we rent from decided to sell the house instead of renting. We had told her last year when we signed the lease we were looking to be 3-4 year tenants. Angry It cost us an extra $1200  in rent and expenses.  We are barely going to get to Vegas for Wheatfest (Kansasfans.com gathering) in Sept which we have already paid for the expenses.  We are missing The Flower Kings in October and last night there was a show at the LA House of Blues with Chris Squire playing with Nick D'Virgillio-drums,Ryo Okumoto-keys,Alan Morse-guitar, Here is the link.

Anyway I am really PO'd about it.  Angry

But have a great time I will be there in spirit!Smile

I don't know how many new fans IZZ will get since most prog fans are probably already aware of them by this point. IF there are local people who are going just to go to a show and barely even know what prog is then yes maybe they will get a few new fans. ;)

Anyway, sorry to hear about your circumstances Garion. Next time make sure you sign a contract that way you can take them to court if they back out on an agreement.

Vanderbilt, not much of a contest. It will still be huge, because it is the season opener.

hahah... ask Phil Fulmer how little of a contest Vandy is hahha...

anyway.... we were spared the worst when he turned to the east slightly.. so other than having large branches fall upon the house and heavy rain..  it wasn't bad.. thanks to all who expressed concern...

Looking foward to ProgDay tommorrow and listening to some groups that I wouldn't normally catch.

Wow, it's kind of weird looking at a picture of a bunch of people who I was talking to this past weekend(IZZ that is). What a show they put on too. The whole weekend was great. I can honestly say I liked every band. Sure the prog snobs had a field day with IZZ and Spiraling but that's their problem. THe key to this festival is diversity. TOo bad only about 220 or so people showed up. I guess it's not the numbers that matter though. Anyway, Micky I missed you unless you are the really tall guy with a mustache who always seems to wear King Crimson t-shirts. I guess you could have been anyone. In fact I might even have seen you or talked to you and not even known who you were. Hopefully, I'll be back next year and hopefully with a crapload more money to burn on cds too. ;)

hahha.. I did make it  you might have seen me but I woke up Saturday feeling under the weather a bit.. arrived late ...halfway through Woodenhead's set, spent more money than I care to say (great albums though hahah) with Greg, caught Beardfish and Uzva, then started to feel rather ill again and went home,  went to bed... and got back out of bed Monday missing the whole 2nd day.  Sorry I missed you but as you could imagine.. not feeling well.. I wasn't particularly social hahahha.  No that wasn't me... I was the short little runt in the tie die... not that that helps at all Wink  I was going to post a review of the festival but since obviously isn't possible...why don't you take a stab at it.   I did really enjoy Beardfish though.. bought both of their albums and can't wait to see what they do with that last 28 odd minute piece of music on record.  Did get a chance to talk to them... nice guys and some real potential though.  There's always next year perhaps...
