Mine's been an Internet net since I was about 18 or so (I'm not 25). I used to frequent a chatroom and needed a name and it popped into my head. Initially it was just Gecko, but one day someone had that name so I changed it and it's stuck. I've actually discovered another dude in America with the exact same version of my name, it's disheartening! -------------

I used Ivan_2068 ever7ywhere before using my real name here.
Once a friend introduced me to his lunatic girlfriend who was some kind of witch, and when I kissed her face (Peruvians greet girls always with a kiss the face, no shaking hands normally), she entered into some kind of trance.
It was spooky, and she said "You're going to die".....I was terrified, after a few seconds with her eyes turned white she continued........."In 2068".
I don't know if she's really a psychic, probably just loony, because none of her predictions have come truth, but in that moment I could not do anything that laugh in her face.
Since then I use Ivan_2068 everywhere and even some friends call me like that, becuse this guy told everyone I turned pale greenish after the frst part of her trance.

But, all my grandparents have passed the 80 years by far, my dad's (He's already 80) mother died in December with 104 years, (my Mom is 61 and despite a high pressure controlled problem she's very healthy) so probably I'm doom to be here a long time and you to listen me

Well, I think every Rush fan should recognize my nickname. I chose it because it sounded good, but especially for its meaning: for those who don't know, the song (from the "Vapor Trails" album) is about Neil Peart's motorcycle trip through America following the deaths of his daughter and his wife. It is about coming back to life after such a tragedy, although with scars that will always show.
BTW, my real name, Raffaella, is usually quite hard to spell and/or pronounce for those who don't speak Italian, so I thought a nickname was a much better idea.

Atkingani comes from a Eastern European dialect (Greek or Ladino) and means "gypsy". The original word was probably "atkinganos" which originated cigano, in Portuguese and also: cygane, tzigane, etc. in other languages.

I've been nicknamed "Oliver stoned" by friends because of my higher states of consciousness, and i kept this nickname (my real first name is "Olivier", the french for "Oliver"). This is also a play on word with the movie director "Oliver Stone".
I also discovered that there's a current artist/musician called the same. But if you type" Oliverstoned" in Google, the first answer to come is my progarchives profile. And if you type "oliverstoned" into Google/images (pictures) you'll find various nice pics coming indirectly from my Progarchives posting. |

When I was 16 (now Im 18) I had an english teacher whos name is Martin Leiser (german guy, very cool) and as a joke we called him Laiza. So one day I call him Laiza and he says ok böthy, ok...cause my lastnam is Boettner...and we all had to laught so ahrd that I took as my nick...in fact its very unusual that my friends call me matias now...

SOmeone gave me the nickname King of Bizarre (or KOB) becasue I listen to unusual music and know lots of little trivia facts. I misspelled Bizarre as Bizzare accidentally one time, so I just stuck with it.

Rush has a song called Test for Echo from the album with the same name. The lyrics have a part that says "video vertigo" so its a Rush reference. My friends and I use to discuss about prog in a mask, disguise of fictional prog university and we name ourselves after famous polish lawyers. I am the Chancellor of course and my nickname is Rafał (Raphael) Taubenschlag, who was the polish greatest professor of Roman Law and Theory of Law in 20-30s - therefore RaphaelT is my PA nick.
