Ok, I dont think this ahs been done before...but hear me out here This is meanly for the people who play an instrument... I am a guitarris and compose music (prog of course ) and I have a mate that is a bassplayer (who is also a member of this site...Dr Evil) but we never can find a good drummer nor keyboard player...so, what would you say if we started a band together? I mean, is there any drummer out there interesnted? Any keyboard player? Any other guitarsit? Any cello ...anything!!! Its all good!!! The idea is similar to Stream of Passion, we form a group around the world, me Im from Argentina...maybe a drummer from England, a keyboard player from USA, another keyboard player from Switzerland...see my point? The thing would go like this, anyone who has a good song or things its good sends it to the other members, that is a sound sample and if possible write how the thing is...I know its difficult, but it would be great... Anyone interested please say so here or send me a personal messege if you dont want to give ...I dont know to much stuff away... Any instrument will do!!! And it doesnt matter if there are like eight drummers already listed or so...we can make it work...or make more than one band!!!!

Sounds interesting, but do you think many people would actually have the motovation to do this? Maybe they'd do it once or twice and then become un-interested after the first few tries? What sort of prog are you aiming to write for? A mix of styles?

This sounds interesting. I can play the clarinet and sing as well as guitar and keyboard although i'm not really that good at the latter two.

Clarinet sounds great!!!![Big smile](smileys/smiley4.gif) ![Big smile](smileys/smiley4.gif) ![Big smile](smileys/smiley4.gif) But are you willing to do it? Its not that hard anyways...but would be fun
The style of the songs I do? mmm I guess I can tell you song by song One is like a hard rocking 8 minute epic with some Zeppelin I think there is a heavy dark metal song about 9 minutes an acoustic piece...also quite dark an instrumental...kaybe in a Jethro Tull kind of way?...mmm na, but its among the best things we have for sure! and...my baby, a 17 minutes epic...I guess you could call it Art rock, it has acoustic work in it, both folk and symphonic, some hard guitars and an overture uuuuuhhh...
that would be it for now...

Gee, sounds like you have a well prepared list of genres and lengths there. But how many people are you aiming to have in your International Band, is there to be a maximum or minimum number?

Sounds interesting, but the participants would need some high quality recording equipment for it to sound decent at all. And I totally.. do not. Even though I do play the drums.

i would be perfectly willing i reckon, sounds like fun. I also don't have good recording equipment but wouldn't it be possible for people to just add to scores and then for one or two people with good recording equipment to put it together? or something like that

As for recording sistems, there are some programs that are quite good...I cant remeber their names now, but I will say them as soon as I remember... Also there was a progrma which the bassplayer knows how to work which makes the "reconding" sound from the computer mic disapear, so it sounds much better...

I'll take the guys on either end in the picture that's part of your signature. What, they're not available? Forget it then! BTW: If I had to, I could fill in on zither & detuned washboard, but mind you just in a pinch...I've also plucked a comb, but I have to admit it doesn't sound like much, can't cut through the mix of a whole band...

Cyggnus & Progtologist look like they're sitting uncomfortably, as if they've just gone through some invasive procedure. Hey Progtologist, anything you want to share with us? Cyggnus, that looks like one of those cheap Ibanez GAX models, time to upgrade...! And for heaven's sake, plug in guys, I can't hear anything (not the drummers & the Miracle, of course)...
Bj-1, you are the wallrus! Stonebeard, your mother named you correctly! Any family connections back to Easter Island? Dual bass players are HOT! One can play the bass lines while the other can, uhhh...play the bass lines...

I`ve done these things before.
some origianl stuff and some Covers.
the covers was most fun to do.
We did E.L.P, Deep Purple, Sabbath, and Zep.
Its very recomendable, that you all use the same recording sequencer, (like Cubase-sonar-or others).
Also using Pc-mics and Sounblaster interfaces is not recomendable.
The noise level on the recording will be very bad to put in a mix, and will stand out.
I think if you spend your money wisely, you can score a good mic and interface for around 200$
I`m quite busy for the moment, in the middle of building my studio accoustics.
So Icant record for a little while.
On the other hand if there`s room for another musican I`d be intrested, I play the guitar\ do some keyboard arranging, a little flute, and lots of Vox.
Check my sig if your intrested, it directs you to some of my recordings...
anyway Good luck ![Smile](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif)

I'm doing this right now with Myself (New York;keyboards, cello, vocals) my cousin (Vermont; Drums, percussion, vocals) My friend Charlie (New York city; Bass) and my cousin's freind Trey (Massechusettes, Guitar). We haven't recorded anything yet, but we have a hell of a lot of material written for it. Its really cool
It's a mizture of older symphonic prog (Genesis, Yes, KC, and Gentle Giant mostly) and more modern stuff like DT, SX, Planet X, and Chroma key.
Its really good so far. Once we have stuff recorded I'll put it up here.

play classical and jazz upright bass. Give me a holler if you need any
tracks.

If you guys are serious, put up a link to some tunage.
Let some of us give a listen & provide some feedback or parts to add.
I'm a computer musician, not very talented when it comes to performing but I can write & the PC allows me to put my parts down without having to play them at speed.
Listen to my stuff - if you like what you hear, let me know where to hear your stuff.
Stop talking about it & lets hear some music.

I'd be interested to do this. I play keyboards and guitar. I also have
a very wide singing range (my mother says I can reach higher than high,
while my voice usually is deeper than my father's) but can't sing good.
We could do it like this:
one person, say, the rhythm guitarist writes the basic structure and
notes the chords. He records it, then sends the song to the bassist who
adds his bass lines, then the keyboardists adds the keyboard sounds,
then the lead guitarist adds his part, then the drums, then the vocals
etc.
Like a song collab!
I also have Cubase SE

Nakatira:
I appreciate the comments. I have a couple of songs I'm working on that I'm trying to add some vocals to ... but you do NOT want to hear me sing! A coworker has offered to add vocals & I will take him up on it eventually. I'm always open to another point of view.
I'm certainly no virtuoso. This is all done on the PC a few notes or phrases at a time. My playing skills pretty much blow. But thanks to the PC I'm able to make the music I hear in my head.
I've been told that my music doesn't invite itself to vocals because there's no room for the words. I also don't think I'm very good at writing melodies to existing words. Guess I need to put something up somewhere & get some opinions.
I'm working on some stuff for a "Fake" band called The Rug Doctors that will be a little heavier than the Aardvark stuff. This is where the vocals will come in.
I'll let you know when I have something for you to work on - let me think about it for a bit.

Hi guys,
I would like to colab with you.
Well, I'm a bass player and I'm a audio technician and work with sales and suport for Digidesign Pro Tools dealer in Brazil.
I have an iMac Intel with Pro Tools 7 in my home studio and I'm working on my prog project called zFroGs.
I can programming percussion and instruments and record, mix and mastering some stuff here.
I think this is a great lab for me too.
It's not difficult to make a record like this. We try to make one song, if somebody send me an audio file or mp3 on e-mail with details like signature, style, etc. I will record some ideais in my equipment and send you back to record more stuff.
I use Pro Tools and Reason and some others soft and virtual instruments.
The most important is try to keep the material and the focus organized.
I think that is pretty cool.
