I wanted to thank everyone that mentioned Kate Bush everytime I started to complain about how everyone is always placing good male artists, but not a single one female artist, on those horrendous but necessary threads "Bestest best for being the best on everything that is best artist of the center of the univers united best vocalist etc." I think it was the last of those; "prog's most unique voice" that finally make me try to find out about Kate Bush, bla, bla, bla... I just love her. So thanks.

You're right: Kate Bush has one of the most beautiful and unique voices of every musical genre... Also she a complete artist...

She's got one of the most beatiful voices that i ever heard... and she's an influence for other female vocalist (Tori Amos, Aimee Mann, Fiona Apple, and others) that i really likes.

But Kate's unique voice, and performing, and everything, is the most complete of all of them

I think I mentioned Kate Bush quite often, as she's been one of my favourite artists for over twenty years. She's not only got a marvellous, unique voice, but she's also a great songwriter and accomplished musician. Fortunately she made a triumphant comeback with last year's "Aerial", after the disappointment that had been "The Red Shoes".

She has stood the test of time better than most of her contemporaries. Its worth remembering that Dave Gilmour and Andrew Powell did a great job helping and guiding her in the early days plus her record company allowed her time to develop. The quality of her albums has hardly dipped at all over the years. She's an orginal..a national treasure!

Well, I also read about K.Bush as being the "bestest best uniquest thing" and bla bla bla just like you did and rusehd to listen to her. But my response was different than yours: I find her so boring ( which is a subjetive, of course ) , so "eighties pop" ( those beats, those electronics ...) . The only record I know is Hounds of Love. Enough for me.
Don't get angry, I just wanted to tell you that in my case, all those big words lead to a big disapointment. We all should more careful and moderate when we write, it is my thought.
Peace and love and keep enjoying ( your ) music.

JOSEPET - what big words ? The fact that she supercalafradulisticaladosus, becaue the lady is!

'Hounds of Love' is a great album, but listen to simplicity of the first.  Sit down with a nice bottle of wine, and chill to the various tones and melodies.  If you want a broad range of her talent then listen to 'the whole story'.

Kate is the only fan club i ever joined - truly original

We all have different tastes, fortunately. That is my all-time favourite record.

Thank you. You should meet my girlfriend; incredibly sweet, sensitive, interesting, with a love for the arts quite beyond the average point of view, etc...and I'll never get angry because of the taste of someone else. (somebody else above wrotte about this issue). I'm just so happy with "The Kick"...

Yes, wonderful taste indeed cuncuna.

Kate Bush is a remarkable talent. Aerial is rapidly becoming my favourite KB album, closely followed by 'Never Forever' which has the beautiful 'Blow Away'

Choices and preferences; that's ok... but, preconceptions; that will always kill the capability of enjoying something because of it's own credentials. I have many friends who, at the first notes of Pawn Hearts, say to me "But that's so 70's; that old organ". I even have a friend who thinks that the sound of VDGG is equal to Huria Heep (he recommended me the band based on the Hammond).

I fell in love with Kate back in 1978 watching her video for wuthering heights. I've been a fan ever since. The long wait for Aerial was worth it . It's my album of 2005 by a long way. I even bought the vinyl double album as well.

Kate is an exeptionally honest and creative artist and no matter which album you prefer each one is special. I'm still in love with her debut that I bought on the day of its release ( ! ), desperately having waited on it, going to town every day asking " IS IT OUT NOW ???". Hats off to Mrs. Kate Bush !

Aerial is one of my top 10 albums.

Other female artists I'm really into are Poe, Loreena McKennitt, and Joni Mitchell.
