So? I think this decade is better than the ´90...it has some new stuff, some excellent albums and some bands like Opeth, The Mars Volta among others are in their peak... So, what year was better? To help you I put this link to the top 100, there you can see which albums where in every year... http://www.progarchives.com/top-prog-albums.asp For me it´s between 2001 and 2003...although all years have some excellent stuff!

I agree that things have been getting better and better in prog these past few years. For me, 2005 was the best year, followed by 2003.

2001 - I've listened to MOSTLY AUTUMN music for the first time.
Didn't expect modern bands can be so good.

i cant decide between 2002(for mei-echolyn, remedy lane-PoS, and In Absentia-Porcupine Tree) or 2003(for The power to believe-King Crimson, Mei-Echolyn, skymind-Taal)
2002 was a good year

In Absentia - PoS
but 2003 was better
The power to believe - King Crimson

Agreed.
Add Frances the Mute and Takk to that list, and you've got a damn good year.

2005 was great, but I have a feeling '06 will kick its ass, especially if Radiohead release their damn album soon!

Definately 2002, three progressive legends released doubled albums.
The Flower Kings- Unfold the Future
Dream Theater- Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence
Spock's Beard- Snow
not to mention Pain of Salvation's Remedy Lane. Coincidently all 4 of the mentioned releases are my favorite album from each band. 2002 was the best for sure.

I voted 2005, how can you deny deadwing, Good Apollo, etc. But 2006 looks like it'll be amazing. David Gilmours album was great, The Flaming Lips, etc. I think I heard something about a New Rush album, and a new Radiohead.

the 1970's
-Progressive only existed in the early 70's
- evrything after that is just rock, metal , punk, alternative, grunge, newave music.

I'm glad I listen to alot of music with an open mind.
It must be terrible pigeon-holing yourself into one small genre of music.
And in all the genres you have listed there have been quite a few phenomonal albums by some great bands.

That's one of the most moronic posts I've read on this forum. I thought it was impossible to beat Oliver, let alone Philippe.
You managed it, congratulations.

Many people are mentioning 2005 but not mentioning the albums which are the best from that year.
The Inconsolable Secret by Glass Hammer
Welcome Humans by Thirteen of Everything
Wanderlust by Little Atlas
Mimi's Magic Moment by Salem Hill
Fortunate Observer of Time by Frogg Cafe
? by Neal Morse
All are superior albums in my humble opinion and getting little mention. Just my $0.02.
