The dictionary definition of "Karn" is

Cornish for "Pile of stones" a derivative of Cairn, it can also mean the solid Rock....

Thus were ELP esoterically forewarning people of the emergence of Prog/metal in the nineties ? - WE MUST BE TOLD !

I don't really think so... I think they chose that word for phonetic reasons
Karn Evil - Carnival. Though if there were more behind it, it would be
interesting

Well, most of the 1st impression is about a futuristic carnival...

Didn't any of you read my description of this to Sweetnighter a while back...:

Karn Evil 9 consists of 3 Impressions:  The first Impression is about a futuristic carnival... and starts off by giving you a description of what the environment is like and why the carnival will be there...Greg plays the role of a carnival barker, inviting potential customers to "roll up" and "see the show"  which evidently has some bizarre and amazing exhibits....

The second impression.. an instrumental that in itself has some bizarre and amazing sounds... leads you on to the finale... of the 3rd Impression which is about a battle between man and machine in which man is ultimately dominated by his own creation. The finale of the piece finds the machine saying to man, "I'm perfect! Are you?" ... but then the machine explodes... So who won??

Actually I hadn't made the connection with Karn Evil and Carnival, this is possibly because Carnival is a word that isn't used in North West England , I think of Fete or Garden Party or event "Party" or "Fair" - Thus I didn't make that connection.

Three Fates - I did however get the basic plot of the three impressions and the work is the finest by ELP by a country mile and was the reason for me listening to more ELP (that and the superb art work by Giger).

I guess some things are so obvious they sometimes elude us, by being TOO obvious. If you know what I mean..

You dont, do you??..

That doesn't make any sense does it..oh well

Put it this way. Different people see things differently..

Dont worry Peter. I was mocking my own inability to explain anything coherently, rather than mocking you for not having noticed something.
