GENTLE GIANT and VDGG split right before the 80s came. They felt the threat,I guess

I think KING CRIMSON were the most progressive band in 80s among the famous dinosauruses of 70s.They've found a completely new odd style, but yet very progressive.

I haven't included here some other bands like CARAVAN or maybe BANCO - lets spin around the well-knowns

Also there are NO 80s bands like MARILLION,IQ,PENDRAGON or QUEENSRYCHE - don't ask me why, just look at the topic's name

Got to be Crimson - they kept Prog 'acceptable' throughout the 80s (the decade that taste forgot)!!!

Not in the big ten but I think Mike Oldfield stayed true to his roots in the 80s more so than his contemporarys.

Rush's 80's material doesn't seem any worse than their 70's output for me.

I'm surprised Marillion wasn't on the list.

- Oldfield if the 80's stopped in 82
- Crimson if the 80's stopped in 84
- In reality, Rush

I think the proggest band in the 80's was Marillion but due to the lack of options in this poll I was forced to vote for Rush which was so proggy too

of course Marillion isn't included, because the one that started this poll was talking about the big bands BEFORE the eighties Evil Smile

Rush or King Crimson, I voted for Rush because of Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures.

Definitely Rush for me. Moving Pictures and Grace Under Pressure are very good albums. And can't say anything good about 3 KC albums of that period....

I think it's King Crimson.

I would like to hear any argument from people who voted for yes or genesis as the proggest of the 80's.

Rush made big strides through the eighties with Moving Pictures and Signals.Power Windows is also underrated IMO.KC probably were more 'progressive' but i'm not that interested in what they were doing then.

Almost everyone's voting for KC so I'll say Camel. In their whole career they never once gave up their prog roots or bowed to record company commercialism.
Consistantly progressive.

The Single Factor is more prog than 80's Genesis or Yes.
For Sasquatch alone it's a gem.
