Some people reckon that Floyd will reform for a few million dollars. Personally, I think that that's crap, but I then wondered: would people pay (let's say) $1000 each to see Syd and the rest of them rework a 1969 setlist? I rather think lots would. You could fill a big venue, if you were the promoter. And flog the TV rights, too.
In reality, Syd and David aren't going to be ordered around, but I'm still left with the hypothetical question of just how much I'd pay out for a dream rock ticket...

If the 1977 Camel Lineup of Latimer, Bardens, Ward, Sinclair, and Collins got back together and were playing material from Rain Dances, The Snow Goose, and Moonmadness, I'd probably pay $350 for a ticket. I would pay a lot of money only for the re union of Genesis...not even for King Crimson (which is my fav band) would I pay that much...well, maybe for the ITCOTCK line up reunion... ------------- "You want me to play what, Robert?"

| MattNYR is right about a Genesis Reunion, but I would like to keep them clear of the Lamb Lies Down in Broadway and maybe to focus them in their previous albums. I would pay a stiff price to see them. |

Well see the thing is a revival isn`t like catching them in their prime , I mean there's a synergy often lost when bands try and do these things ... I tell you what I`d rather a time machine to take me back to the 70`s .. now that would be the answer

Well, this is a pretty hard question. I'm not that much into prog (yet), so don't want to pay extensive amounts for bands like Pink Floyd from one era or another. When there would be a festival with, say, 10 bands I totally love, I would pay a price well above normal fee's. That's like € 300-400. I would pay almost anything to see a Syd-era and an early Floyd concert. idk 300 dollars? i would love to see Pink Floyd at their peak... or Yes. They are great live. Led Zeppelin would be a good live show too. ------------- true as a lobster in a pteredaktyl's underpants.

It depends not only on the gig, but I think on your circumstances at the time, and how much value (not price) you put on the experience.
In the past i have spent £300 on a pair of opera tickets,(a gift for my partner and worth every darned penny) and £750 for a pair of FA cup final tickets.(from a scum bag tout, but again for that experience worth every penny- Arsenal winning the double back in '98) Both i think was TOTALLY good value, and wonderful experiences because they both meant so much more than what it might seem on face value.......... but for a gig, hmmmm, I dunno, I do think that it can get out of hand the way prices are ramped up, especially as you say sonic assisin as the dvd sales tv rights etc etc of these huge gigs reap in quite a chunk of money. There have been times in my life when I couldn't afford £20 for a ticket for a gig I ached to see, but the earth didn't stop spinning. i tend to put values on things these days that have nothing to do with price. If I had the money, and it meant a lot to me I might spend it, but it wouldn't worry if I missed it for lack of funds. As much as i would like to hear Genesis with the Gabriel line up, I have to say without time travel that won't be possible. i don't think it is always a good idea to get what you wish for, sometimes it can be a let down. I love what PG is doing now, and that's ok with me. P-C |
