Well... a Beatles album has finally reached the top 100 list. That didn't take very long, did it? ![](smileys/smiley11.gif)
It's not that I don't like the album but... well, I'm sure you guys know the story by now.

a well deserved position, a quality album even by today's standards of recording. even though at the time (1969) the beatles were suffering internal conflicts (most obviously in "let it be") they still managed to deliver the goods - true professionals!![Clap](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley32.gif) ![Clap](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley32.gif) ![Clap](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley32.gif)

I think it deserves to be there. The Beatles were one of the most influential bands ever and Abbey Road is one of their best and most progressive albums. Besides, it has a side-long epic, sort of.

Sorry to steal your thunder Legoman, but Abbey Road hit the Top 100 on April 11th, and I still don't think proto-prog albums should be counted towards the overall chart.

^ So that would mean "The Nice" couldn't be included also.

I take your point Ian but I see The Nice as a "proper" prog band anyway.
When "Please Please Me" gets to number one, then you'll all remember my words...![](smileys/smiley2.gif)

So do I, that ,means we have to do something to change their genre.

Finally, It should be up there with Lateralus, The Yes Album and other albums that are in the top 50.
It is the only Beatles album that I could give more than 3 1/2 stars ... instead I give it a perfect 5!!! Incredible album!!!!!!

Abbey Road is more progressive than, say, The Lamb Lies Down The
Broadway. Having said that, it is not my favourite Beatles album, and
on the other hand TLLDTB is not a bad piece of work.

Well put. That album is nothing short of awesome, as well as Sgt. Peppers.

I guess if you are going from the dictionary definition of
progressive... which we aren't. If we were doing that I suppose
that Red Hot Chili Peppers and Dashboard Confessional would be on here,
right? They progressed their genre, right!?
So, no. The Lamb is much more progressive than anything the Beatles have ever done.

Against a number of strong contenders, Abbey Road is my favorite Beatles album. It may not be as innovative as Sgt Peppers but If forces to pick just one Beatles offering, it would be Abbey Road.
Favorite album of all time: Toss up between Yes - Close To The Edge, The Beatles, Abbey Road & TheWho - Who's Next.
