| How come Andy Lattimer is almost never mentioned when great guitar players/musicians are being mentioned in those (to IMO stupid and useless, but nevertheless quite entertaining) polls and lists? I think he's incredible, as well as far as musicianship, emotion, sound and song writing is concerned. My hairs stand on end and my lacrimal glands almost start secretion each time I hear one of his particular good solos, live or on album. Just listen to 'Stationary Traveller'! It's f***ing awesome!! |

Because Latimer's guitar sound is ordinary, although he is very melodic and moving! Actually, he sounds just a bit better than the dullish Daryl Stuermer! |

I think it's because Camel never really got the credit they deserved.
Latimer's playing is very emotional and moving, I say on par with
Gilmour....very similar

Then I suggest you lend ears to what he's contributed with to the Colin Bass' solo projects... specially "An outcast of the Islands". You will certainly rewrite the story you have set upon Latimer's work... outstanding once again.

Latimer's style is very emotive.It's similar to Jan Akkerman's but without the flash jazz chops -------------

Latimer's never been a showman, or one to actively seek recognition. He does what he does with great emotion and talent, but he seems find adequate reward in the appreciation of Camel's fans. Others could benefit from his fine example!

I would also put Andy Latimer on a par with David Gilmour - and Steve Rothery - all capable of the most emotively powerful yet understated solos - and hardly a noodle in sight! I agree with what you're saying about Stationary Traveller, petervh - that's got some amazing guitar high points, but so has Harbour of Tears - and Mirage is the daddy of all of them, especially "Lady Fantasy". |

Yes, I can confidently state that Andy latimer is a very fine and accurate player of the guitar.I once studied at the Walter Mitty School For The Performing Arts so i know what I'm talking about.

Peter Without doubt Andy Lattimer is at the top as far as my league of guitarists goes. He crafts beautiful solos that are a testiment to how you can create something simple but wonderful.
