Indeed, these two records are very similair to each other. Albums twins I'd say. Both are immaculately recorded prog-jazz albums with very interesting song structures and musical passages.

But which is the best one? Tough choice, at least for me. I don't consider them to be one of the Zappa's best works, but at any rate it's great experience. Principle problem for me is that there aren't presented that much of catchy tunes, something that would stick in my mind after listening.

Initially I intended to vote for The Grand Wazoo, but then realized that TGW most likely would win.
So I went for Waka/Jawaka.

I think both are great albums, but The Grand Wazoo is better in my opinion. It has a stronger set of songs. And, I do consider these to be among Zappa's best albums.

Both of them.

The Grand Wazoo is a more consistent album, but nothing on it beats Big Swifty from Waka Jawaka.

Waka/Jawaka was my first ever Zappa album so it'll have to be my choice in this 'ere poll.

Grand Wazoo by quite a bit, actually ... Eat That Question in particular ... Grand Wazoo's my favourite Zappa album out of the 16 or 17 I've heard (haven't heard Joe's Garage and Uncle Meat yet though!)
