Would you rather have the current list or one which looks like the one from this thread?

It seems that most people share your opinion Mike. I may have to consider my future here.

I voted for top 20, but in actuality I would like to keep the top 100.

Although, I would like to keep that top 20 thread going. As Firepuck stated in the Top 20 thread, I had found some holes in my collection as well. Now it's up to Mike to decide if he wants to update the Top 20 thread every so often (I believe it won't change to drastically).

I hope this is a good suggestion.

It took me more than one hour to type the list ... I will never do that again! Instead, I'll try to make a dynamic version of the list. If not on the front page, then surely on a separate page. Maybe I'll even make the number of albums configurable (1 album per artist, 2 albums per artist etc.).

Let's not rush this! I'll be perfectly happy to make this list available on a separate page. And why not indeed show both lists on the front page? Something like top 50 albums + top 10 artists from each genre.

I would certainly think very carefully before leaving PA Mike.

^ I hope so! BTW: I would also think very carefully before actually modifying the front page in this way.

Oh NOOOOOOO! the subdivion by genre in this site is just horrible!!!

I wish current top 100 albums could win!

I voted for the current top 100, but now that I think about it, the top 20 by genre does seem a bit more informative and has both Kate Bush and Tangerine Dream in the top 3, so I guess it would be nice to have both lists on the front page.

What's wrong with the genre division? Wouldn't it be nice - especially for newbies - if less popular genres like Krautrock or RIO/Avant-Prog had a chance too?

i voted for top 20. It was a great idea!

the top 100 list can confuse newbies. for example, if I love on album and its position is 30th, I'd think that the 29 albums that are above my fav are at least as good as it, but the mix of subgenres can led a symph prog listener that dislikes heavy meta lto judge Opeth a nice try. the subdivision puts the things clear.

^ all good points, either way I think this will work out; whether it be on a seperate page or the front page.

and off topic, but I love your avatar Vompatti. I have only seen Eraserhead once, but i've lent it to a couple of my friends with more "obscure" interests.

I'd rather It be called the best album by artists, not top 20 artists of the genre.
