I have heard bits and pieces of bluegrass many times in my life...by who, I do not know. In fact, I have been to BG festivals. I just don't know the artists. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. And as always, the old school (70s) is prefered. Thanks

get the soundtrack to "Oh, Brother where art thou."
good movie, and good bluegrass music.

I'm jealous- I remember when I first started getting into bluegrass music. Three things I highly recommend to get going:
1. Flatt and Scruggs (classic: "Foggy Mountain Breakdown")
2. Bill Munroe (classic: "Blue Moon of Kentucky")
3. http://www.ibma.org - www.ibma.org (history, resources, links, etc.)
"Old School" for bluegrass is a lot earlier than the 70s
Have fun!

Hmmmm: breaking into bluegrass, hey?
Get a banjo and some buck teeth.
A hyphenated first name and jug ears would help too....
Gawrsh, yer cousin smells real purdy!

Hey greg- let the Brits have their laugh...so far most of the jokes have concerned bad teeth and an insular gene pool. Maybe next they'll make fun of our bland cuisine, football riots and feeble aristocracy

Hmmmm...
First, get a jug of shine and get her all liquored up!
Then... What? Bluegrass?
I'm dreadfully sorry -- I thought you said YOUR COUSIN....
Silly me.
Try this: Put "bluegrass" in Google, hit "enter," see what comes up. Must be plenty of good websites dedicated to bluegrass....
I listen to lots of Celtic, but hardly any real bluegrass -- though I can vouch for the "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou" soundtrack.

Right, I dont want to hear a single remark against Morris dancers. We'll leave the toothless Bluegrass simpletons alone, if they agree to leave our carrot crunching village idiots in peace.
Anyway, how can you find fault with these guys. Check em out!

interesting...so is that "I need help because I find myself getting into bluegrass" or "I need help in order to get into bluegrass"?
I can picture Peter gasping, "...need help...please...getting into...progressive metal...dear God, no..."
