Neal and Jack are Neal Casady and Jack Kerouac. Casady was the inspiration behind Kerouac's On The Road (in which he is portrayed as Dean Moriarty if I remember rightly) and the lyrics to Beat are heavily influenced by Beat generation writings, somehting which is achieved most successfully on Neurotica. I'm pretty sure that every song refers to Kerouac one way or another, but I haven't read that many of his books so I can't be sure. ------------- 'Like so many of you I've got my doubts about how much to contribute to the already rich among us...'
