Can you guys recommend a selection of guitarists/bands to inspire a 12 yr old who is learning the electric guitar. He plays very decent Stratocaster and Gibson replicas. He loves Malmsteen and Van Halen and a few of the Blues guitarists but I thougt (sneaky old me) this might be a very good way of introducing him to the world of prog at a young, tender & impressionable age ... so ... whaddya think? John Macloughlin in Mahavisnu Orchestra, Steve Hackett in Genesis, Steve Howe in Yes, Robert Fripp of King Crimson, Alex Lifeson of Rush. For a learner Dave Gilmour and Syd Barret of Pink Floyd are easier and and a better place to start, these other guys above a real experts. |
