What kinds of multi effects generators are good for beginning guitar players

Boss produce good and inexpensive multi-effects units.

if you can get hold of a BOSS SE-70 they're brilliant, they have all the fx you'll ever want !! ( you might pick one up on ebay for about £100.00 )

I think Line6 POD 2.0 is quite good. I use it myself.
