Hey guys,

I just want to get some opinions of my band from my prog peers. These are just recordings that my friends and I did together. Although we were formally of undeveloped bands, we had never played together before this point. I'm hoping we'll get to show our more symphonic-y progressive in later songs.

I'm on lead guitar and Zappa-esque vocals on "Harold Takes a walk"....enjoy and please comment

Criticisms and Comments?

Maybe one day we'll be play together as headliners at some Prog Festival...that'd be so awsome.

Alright, time for me to be a dick.

Paint it Black was...messy, but I've heard worse. The guitar solo was great, though I'm not sure if it fit the song too well. The vocals were...somewhat uninspiring.

Harold Land was very entertaining, nice job on that one.

Sorry for being a douche, don't take any of this too seriously, it's just one person's opinion. You do sound good on that guitar though.

Is the drummer using splash cymbals all the time?

Well we were recording all of this live inside our drummer's basement through a PA and into a computer. Unfortunately, we didn't even consider putting alot of mics on the drum set, so the sound sort of suffered; especially since the unidirectional mic we were using on the drums wasn't really focused towards the crash cymbals he was using.

Your comment is well noted, as I'm sure everyone here and everyone I know who has listened to that song, didn't like the vocals. Luckily for you guys, that was entirely a time one time thing and he will not be and never will be our vocalist.

We've already finished worked on two songs on which the keyboardist and I do vocal harmonizing and such on...so hopefully it will be an improvemnt.

As for the messiness of the presentation. Yes it would be for people who listen to prog rock. The song comes off a little punkish in how driving it is, but at that point we had only been jamming for awhile and didn't really attempt to do any complete songs. So at the last minute for an audition demo we made those songs, which luckily got us in (well its a youth band event).

Thanks for your comment! It looks like everyone else problem has stolen yours. But yes, I do hope these songs will be the beginning to an evolution of this band towards some greater...something more progressive.

LOL It's called Harold takes a Walk...but hell, we should cover "Harold Land" by Yes Big smile. And don't worry, we need some criticism anyhow, to help us work on our sound...but that's so much for the compliment.

Listen to Paint it black.

I love this tune, one of the stones best.

The band could use some more playing together, its not as tight as it could be, that being said its not bad.
Some more practice could take you far.

Try Some compressor and verb on the vox, pluss cut eq at 100hz.
The drums needs to come up more, specially the bass and snare, maybe use one mic on the bass and one the snare and one over head.

The guitar also need some more beef, theire a bit skinny, the bass sounded the best to me.
a lttle compressor on it and its set to go.

Hope you find this as constructive critisizme.

JUSt keep working it, it sounds as I you guys enjoy your playing, and you should.

Keep it up.
