Which band has the best art work in your opinion?

(WHY DO I HAVE A FEELING THE OVERWHELMING ANSWER IS GONNA BE YES?)

I love Yes album covers, and although Asia is a horrible band, they have amzing album artwork as well.

I agree. However I also like Early Genesis' artwork.

Is there any contest: The Black Crowes - Amorica

Seriously though, there are too many great covers to pick a favourite, but a cover that manages to go well together with the music is always great. I miss the days of the LP where covers really made an impact. The size of a CD cover leaves much to be desired!

I agree with Svein- Frode about covers that are relevant to the music or lyrics

Album covers like this

As I say on a thread covering (pun there) the same subject several months ago, check out the LP version of Man's Be Good To Yourself at Least Twice A Day, the fold out has not been beaten in 25 years.

That's not a bad idea, Jim, as the Search facility is not particularly sophisticated.

1) "Seconds Out" - Genesis: The album cover alone made me buy the album, and I've been a fan of prog since.

2) "Script for a Jester's Tear" - Marillion

3) "Clutching at Straws" - Marillion

i really like dream theater's album covers. they always have the logo slipped in somewhere and a nice logo and the drawings are generally brilliant.

Symphony X blatently copied them in not only music but album cover style as they his their mask logo in all their album covers and their album "V" is the same as "awake" by dream theater practically!

N'ai Pas!

Quote (WHY DO I HAVE A FEELING THE OVERWHELMING ANSWER IS GONNA BE YES?)

Because, there so damn cool! Infact, I have Tales From Topographic Oceans as my wallpaper for ze comp. Kickass, no? I thought Kansas's Leftoverture was neat, and Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here freaked me out the first time I saw it.

The best album cover is BSS... the Giger prints.. how you open it... the shaft of "light"... the title... great concept..

Actually the album covers for Asia.. were about the only thing I did love about them... that and the "Asia in Asia" video... for other reasons...

Weird but I love the back cover of Rush's Permanent Waves, cause it has all those cool shots of Le Studio in Morin Heights, which just seemed to be so rock and roll when I was 13 particulalr cause there's a double neck guitar in one of the shots. Even better in the Tom Sawyer video with all the snow outside.

And yes, it's got to be Yes' Yessongs, though I think the covers of Zep III and Physical Graffiti are very very cool. Always liked the cover of Point of Know Return and the inner sleeve artwork.

Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers, Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, Alice Cooper's From the Inside. On a completely off beam note I love the artwork done by factory record for the Joy Division and early New Order singles such cool typography.

Naturally these are all the vinyl gatefold with posters, stickers, toys, free cadillacs all the sort of stuff you used to get with 12" sleeves.

Insightful! You certainly are misusing the power of deduction you hold within your hand around here, while there are millions of unsolved crimes out there...
