L'via L'viaquez... unlike the other four, it's good.

L'via L'viaquez and The Widow are the only 2 songs that don't give me headaches.

Cassandra is the epic I dislike the most tied with Porcupine Tree's dull Voyage34.

to me l'via is a too repetitive...and it's essentially the reason i once fell out-of-love with the album (that's over though thank god). I love the song, i just wore it out playing it every which way (backwards, at like 1/8 regular tempo, etc etc)...and i think it just grew deadly old. then i took my long long hiatus to post rock and lots of indie. i've just recently returned to the album ,adn i love it as much as ever, but i still feel as if l'via is a bit too...just...i suppose i like the more experimental side of the band.

still a stellar track though.

i personally find it incredible that de-loused has appartenly undersold frances by 3X (De-loused last count around 250000, frances at 750000).

that's quite a figure...frances should go gold very soon.

Cassandra Geminni... their ultimate masterpiece and one of my all-time favorite epics.

  1. Cassandra Geminni
  2. L'via
  3. Miranda
  4. Cygnus
  5. The Widow

5. l'via

6. the widow

1. L'Via
2. Cygnus
3. Cassandra
4. The Widow
5. Miranda

It took me a really long time to enjoy Cassandra, but now I think it's a great piece (although I instantly enjoyed L'Via and Cygnus, and they are still my favorite two tracks of the album.)

Miranda is a nice, mellow track although I believe it would better if it was shortened (the opening 4 minutes could be reduced, IMO). On an odd note, I actually like to listen to the last three minutes of The Widow

L'via, the others were great live but when listening to the CD I find I fast forward parts of every other song except for L'Via.  My favorite Mars Volta song along with Eriatarka

Cassandra without a doubt. I think this has been done.

It's really tough. They're all fantastc tracks, but if I really had to pick, it would be between Cygnus and Cassandra. I picked Cygnus in the last poll with the topic, so I'll go the other way this time.

You should include the title track too; it may not be part of the CD (available elsewhere), but it's part of the album too. I wouldn't have picked it, but it is a great song.

Cygmund is more immediate at 12 minutes or so but cassandra is an epic. It's a bit like Siberian Khatru v Close to the Edge.

On De Loused i feel the three stand outs are Drunkship of lanterns , Eriatarka, and Roulette Dares. Meanwhile i feel Frances is the overall better album.

I voted for Miranda for two reasons: first - it is absolutely mesmerizing, weird and moody track, which I like no end, despite all the noises; and second - no one else voted for it so far.

Generally, it's very hard to separate tracks on this album, as it is one whole entity and should not be divided. It's like "which part of Cassandra Geminni (tracks 5-12) you prefer?" - it sounds a bit of a nonsense to me...
