I couldn't find a topic about this festival through the search, so here it goes. A topic about:
Arrow Rock Festival 2006
Every year the world's greatest names in rock history pay a visit to a
Dutch place called Lichtenvoorde, for this festival, which will this
year consist of 2 days.
The complete line-up so far (I don't know if any bands will follow) is:
Deep Purple
Def Leppard
Dio
Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush
George Thorogood & The Destroyers
John Waite
Journey
Pavlov's Dog
Porcupine Tree
Queensrÿche
Ray Davies
Roger Waters (a 3 hour show, incl. complete DSOTM)
Starsailor
Status Quo
Ted Nugent
Uriah Heep
Whitesnake
If my financial status get's any better than it is right now, a friend
and I are travelling to Lichtenvoorde this year. Oh man, how cool will
it be to see Deep Purple, Dio, Queensrÿche etc.... The opportunity of a
lifetime, if you ask me! And 3 hrs of Roger Waters.... Man!
Any other Dutch people on this forum checking this one out?

Whoops, and after 2 days I find the right section...
Can a moderator move this topic to http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=22 - Live Performance Reviews ?
Maybe that's the place where there are some more people who are interested in this festival...

Man Made God, perhaps this would be a good time for that "Exchange Program" you were talking about, hmmm?

Haha, this would indeed be the perfect weekend, I guess.
I still haven't bought my ticket, but that isn't gonna take me much longer I guess. The more I think about the festival, the more I think: "this might be your only chance to see ... & ... & ..."
Erik & KingKay: do you think any more bands will be added? And what's your no.1 'must-see'?

Deep Purple - Great, I have never seen them! Def Leppard Dio - I witnessed him on Parkpop along Marillion, lots of fanatical fans who were hanging in the fence after a few chords .. Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush George Thorogood & The Destroyers John Waite Journey - I have seen them on Pinkpop 1978 and in The Hague 1980, great live band and Neal Schon is an underrated gutiarplayer!
Pavlov's Dog - I am very curious to their performance, some Mellotrons on stage ? Porcupine Tree - I have seen them twic, excellent live band! Queensrÿche Ray Davies - I love The Kinks Roger Waters (a 3 hour show, incl. complete DSOTM) - I witnessed the In The Flesh tour a few years ago in Antwerp (Belgium), oneof the best concerts I have ever seen, especially the Animals tracks and the images from Syd Barrett on the huge screen, very emotional. Starsailor Status Quo - I still love their 3 chords boogie woogie bluesrock! Ted Nugent Uriah Heep - Nostalgia and I have seen them a few years ago, great concert and these guys love their music! Whitesnake

Interesting notes! I am also looking forward to Def Leppard. Allthough I don't really know their music, a friend of mine who likes Deep Purple very much said DL is somewhat equal to DP.
Last weekend I bought Made in Japan (didn't have it yet ) and I have to buy loads of albums before going to this festival! But it will be worth it, I'm sure.

I didn't know Ray Davies was coming. Hard to stay away in that case. I have once seen a concert by him the man is not only a very good singer but also a great story teller with a great sense of humor. Third of may he plays in Vredenburg Utrecht.
Porcupine Tree is always very good. I have no idea about Deep purple and Rogers Waters at the moment though, are they still as good as they were in the past?

Man Made God, you bought Made In Japan, what a discovery ! By the way, when I bought this album in the early Seventies my father was not pleased at all and he used to rush into my room screaming "stop that washing machine sound ..!" .... Anyway, a dream comes true when I see them on the Arrow Classic Rock festival !

Good chance I'll be attending this festival this year!
Never seen Deep Purple before... would love to!
And of course, I'll just *crash* after Porcupine Tree...

Well, actually, I can't stand the studio-version of Child in Time. But
on MiJ it just sounds much better, and all the other songs rock, so it
was in the end a logical choice
And I still haven't bought a ticket!
By the way, I'm still wondering if any more bands will be announced...?

I saw Deep Purple two years ago with Joe Satriani and they blew Satch off the stage. It was a great show, all members being very energetic and very much into it. I caught two guitar picks from bassist Roger Glover. I was in the second row. Ian Gillan sounded great as soon as he got warmed up, about one song. One of the best shows I've ever seen. You guys are so lucky. I've never seen Uriah Heep and would love to, along with Queensryche, Porcupine Tree, and Dio. Let us know how the show was and if anyone wants to trade places(countries) for a year with me, let me know.

Pavlov's Dog at Arrow Rock Festival 2006 is completely bogus!!! Promoters of the festival should think twice and not allow them on the bill for they will not be delivering the band PD fans truely want to hear. If you’re a true fan salivating to hear the Original Pavlov's Dog finally to ring their bell abroad...know there is currently only one original member in the band. For the fans who yearn to hear the true instrumental sound of Pavlov’s Dog with Douglas Rayburn's mellotron, Steve Scorfina's lead guitar, Rick Stockton's bass guitar, David Hamilton's keyboards, Siegfried’s Violin or Mike Saffron's backbeat on the drums....they will sorely be disappointed for none of these or any past members are currently with voice David Surkamp. You can expect to hear nothing instrumental of the original ABC or CBS recording band. PD fans will salivate, prior to the concert only as a conditioned response. After the bell rings at the festival, PD fans will be singing Bring Back the Good Ole Days.....and starving for the Classic Rock Band aka the St. Louis Hounds. Good note for all rockers at the festival that the headliner that day is Roger Waters who can stand alone.

There are two original members in Pavlov's Dog. David Surkamp, the voice and the heart of Pavlov's Dog and Mike Safron is the beat and the backbone, and founder of the band, is there on drums. The reviews from Germany last year were fantastic. This is an unbelieveable chance to see this band, one I won't miss!!

Man, I never even heard of Pavlov's Dog before it was listed on the bill of ARF. But then again, names like Blackfoot & Starsailor don't ring any bells either.
But who cares, maybe it's great music, and then I can go and buy more albums!

By the way: this night I already dreamt (spelled right?) about the festival .
I was dreaming I met all the musical heroes who were there at some afterparty. We were drinking and having loads of fun... Man, what an enormous bummer was it when I woke up! How cool would that be: just meeting Roger Waters... Dio or Geoff Tate.... And hanging out with these guys!
Say Erik, can't you get somekind of press authorisation from PA.com, since you're a special collaborator and all ?
PA people: let's change the site into a concert-review site before June 9th! GO GO GO!

Starsailer had one hit in Belgium. "Four to the floor I was sure, never seeing clear
I could have it all, whenever you are near" I'm surprised you never heard of them.
By the way, I'd love to go to Arrow Rock Festival too, but I'm only 16.

Well, maybe if I hear it, I recognize it, but the name doesn't ring any bells. Well, I'm afraid this is one of the bands which make sure we can easily enjoy a bear and buy a couple of cd's

* Graham Broad - Drums

* Harry Waters - Keyboards & Organ

I also heard about the Riverside rumours, but I think putting them on a reserve list AND letting them know is just 'not done'.
How amazingly cool it would be if they showed up though! Man, then I really can die peacefully after the show.

I can't think of a reason besides Riverside opening the 2nd day, and PT as 'new prog' playing as the 2nd band that day.....
And the festival can become even better, as Nick Mason is being added
to more shows of Roger Waters... Maybe he'll join Roger on stage in
Lichtenvoorde? That wouldn't make my day any worse I guess

Well then, only 5 days to go before it's time for the magic to begin.
My friend and I have made a list of bands we absolutely want to see, and I don't think any will be added:
Friday:
Ted Nugent
Uriah Heep
Whitesnake
Status Quo (but we'll leave early for a good spot at DP I guess)
Deep Purple
Saturday:
Riverside
Porcupine Tree
Dio
Def Leppard
Queensrÿche (same as Status Quo, leaving early for RW)
Roger Waters
