I never quite understood why Peter Banks was sacked from Yes. Can anybody shed any light?

Paul Di'Anno was kicked out of Iron Maiden because of a bad drinking problem.Incidents like Paul getting drunk, then arrested before a show and Steve Harris singing all the vocals that night were common.

Quote tarja - nightwish reson?

Tarja acted like a selfish b***h. Cancelled shows for stupid reasons, said that she could leave the band when she wanted etc.

maybe he was drinking but the he was screaming so loud that he got problems with his voice. maiden did not take chance to give bad gigs, so they fired him. i was 13 years old when this happened, and even the maiden show has been cancelled!i can see the truth is distorted nowadays.

Banks wasn't happy about the use of the Orchestra on "Time and a word", and made his feelings known. Anderson and Squire decided (without seeking the agreement of the other members) that Banks should go. He doesn't seem to have been sacked as such, just told it would be better if he left.

(according to the excellent Yes biography by Chris Welch)

tarja out of nightwish? since when? I didn't know it happened. Not that I'm interested either, but I'm surprised that such a news missed me.

Mick was sacked because Fish thought he was rubbish. In Fish's own words he was an amateur that got lucky. I don't think the rest of the band were too impressed with hi m either but as he was the founder they didn't do anything.

I heard that Derek Sherinian was kicked out of Dream Theater because by the time that Kevin Moore left they where inviting Jordan Rudess but he couldn't play with them at that time so they got Derek and then when Rudess was available they "sacked" him out of the band.

Maiden didn't fire Paul simply because he lost his voice... All singers lose their voice at some point

"Sometimes it's good to let off a little steam after a show. But when it starts to affect your performance, as it did with Paul, well, that's when I say enough is enough." - Harris about Di'Anno's partying

"It was my own fault. I was just a kid and I couldn't take the pressure." - Paul Di'Anno

The truth isn't distorted.I was 14 or 15 when it happened.

You are just misinformed.

Rick Wakeman from Yes because of his enjoyment of meat curries and beer during performance.....................................when the rest were veggies.

Tony Kaye from Yes, because he wasn't keen on the new fangled synths and preferred his trusted Hammond..........................

What are you talking about ? Or was that a joke ? He quit because he hated Tales and the direction the band obviously wanted.

Rick Wright was kicked out of Pink Floyd because he was becoming unreliable and because he was depressed, apparently, that's what I heard.

Apparently David Gilmour asked Roger if Nick Mason could be kicked out too, but Roger rejected David's request, not sure if there's any truth on that rumour as well.

Lemmy got kicked out of Hawkwind for possesion of drugs in Canada.

John Rutsey was not fired from Rush, he just was not as serious about becoming a musician as the other two in the band, he would later comment on how his leaving and watching Neil on the drums cemented his thoughts about being a musician and the music world....

Mick Pointer was indeed fired by Fish, for being amatuer-ish

Paul Dianno was too immature during his time in the band, and when he was fired from the band, the band's mometum was rising

Doug Ferguson left Camel, when he felt the music was becoming too complex for his liking...Andrew Latimer often lamented that Doug's leaving had catastrophic ramifactaions on the band afterwards....

Andy Ward was asked to leave Camel in order to get his life back in order, the few years after Doug's exit, Andy was abusing drugs and alcohol to the point of his usual stellar performance had suffered severely...

Peter Banks was also dissatisfied with the orchestral hinderance of A Time and Word, and he was fired by Jon and Chris when his bickering became too much for them to handle...

John Mayhew was by Genesis for being too much like the band during their sessions for FGTR ...Meaning that John seemed more "wide-eyed at the fact that he was in a band and performing in front of crowds...

Steve Hackett had to be coaxed in to not leaving Genesis after the Foxtrot sessions because he felt as if he was being underappreciated

Partly right on the first count; completely wrong on the latter.

Doug Ferguson left because Andy Ward wanted to move in a direction he didn't want the rhythm section to go. No other reason at all.

Andy Ward left because of his bipolar disorder which caused him to try to commit suicide (the "hand injury" mentioned on The Single Factor was to cover this up). He also had a history of drug abuse and alcohol adiction and could no longer stand up to touring, so he was asked to resign. He is now back playing with Latimer and Ferguson on an ad hoc, informal basis but can't commit to touring. I hope that some recordings will result, perhaps with some keyboard input from Ton Scherpenzeel or someone similar.
