I noticed today (14/3/06) that the atrists pages have changed so that the picture of the band, their genre and country are put aside right above the google ad bar and their bio is right next to them. Is this a permanent thing. I know this site has to earn money from ad's to maintain its existence, and I don't argue with that. What I think is that the ad's should not interfere so blatantly with the site's main focuses. I think there could be a more suitable place for them, elsewhere in each page. In the main page for example, it is done quite well.

Don't mean to sound petty, but I think graphics and design should be an important issue to be adressed here on PA. I am posting this in the only interest of making this site better.

I agree. It doesn't look very nice at the moment. The ads are taking way too much space IMO...

My advice to the owners:

  1. remove streaming
  2. remove ads
  3. watch people enjoy the site again!

I don't think it would be practical to remove the ads altogether Mike, the site has to be funded somehow.

Hi, Mike

The ads have to stay to maintain this site financially. I understand that. And I do enjoy this site alot.

And as I feared I am growing accustomed to this new format (we eventually become accustomed to all changes, good and bad ).

But I think there are other possibilities of designing the artists PA page.

With that been said, it is a great site and a very good job is done - (if you want proof of my loyalty take a look in the Iron butterfly spam thread ).

btw, why remove streaming?

I also agree with this!!!

Thios is ever insidious as the adds are taking up more space progressively,

A necessary evil those adds, but let's keep them in their allotted space/place which I would day should not be more than 5% of a given page. and they should be gathered at the top of the page (no advertisers will pay for adds at the bottom of the page, unfortunately)

I absolutely HATE the google ads that are on the front page beneath the first review.

The ads actually don't bother me. Plus if they pay for the running of the site, well i just ran out of steam there!

I don't mind the banner on the top of the page ... but they should not mix with the content in the main area.

The archives are really becoming quite a business ...

I think I read somewhere last year, in 2006 PA would change!

I expected something different than this, maybe this is the change I don't know!

Last night the content went heywire!

I agree with you and snowie

The banner above the homepage is sometimes really tasteless and taking you for an idiot (error messages  and free check-ups) and this should be taken care of. Other than that the banner above is not bothering me.

But I agree that the add between the reviews and those between the album boxes and the reviews proper are  bothersome (even if I never even look at them), and those adds for Larson, Amason or CD Universe are in the way, even if I am so used to them, I do not see them anymore

What Ads????

I use Firefox with the adblock extension I don't see a single ad.

Check this link out for more info http://adblock.mozdev.org/ - http://adblock.mozdev.org/

Obvisously, If everyone started using extensions like this I don't know what effect this would have on sites that are totally dependant on Ad revenue.

Who knows IE7 may allow addons that do this as well (when it finally gets released)?

Actually I have an adblock but it is not specific enough, and it blocks other things as well .

I didn't mean for this to become such a big deal by the way. Just a cooment on thinking about the design of the site, that is all...
