Besides the first album (which always wins)

Which is your favourite?

I love Women and Chidren First and Fair Warning. Fair Warning gets my vote.

The debut

But since I can't pick that,I feel the same way as you Dr.

I really like WaCF and Fair Warning....I will go with FW,it's their most different album.

W&CF

The two acoustc tracks arfe excellent

But none of these albums come to knee height of the debut album

every track is a classic on that one

"Women And Children First" ("Everybody Wants Some", "Romeo Delight", "In A Simple Rhyme" and "Could This Be Magic" are the highlights) followed by "1984" ("Panama" is great and "Jump" is their most famous song, a very catchy tune).

Van Halen 2 for me 2. Dance The Night Away, DOA and the guitar intro to "Women in Love", which is truly awesome.

I thought II was a huge disappointment after their stellar debut.

And all their albums were too short.

My vote goes to 1984 too! Good to see that album getting some support. I have not heard VHII or Fair Warning, though..

1984 - with the exception of Jump - is better than Diver Down IMO..

I remember watching Van Halen on their very first solo tour in the UK. They had just done a tour as support to Black Sabbath and had literally blown them off the stage and ther was great anticipation amongst British fans.

What a joke it turned out to be! Halen managed a 65 minute set, which included 3 bass solos and two drum solos. It was a total mess and a complete rip-off.

However the debut album is awesome and one of my favourite rock albums of all-time. Cant agree with Andy about Jump either, it's one of the greatest pop singles of all time....

Fair Warning is raw and a step away from the blatant commercialism that they were in danger of being trapped by at the time.  Eddie is ferocious, especially on the wonderful "One foot out the door" that closes the album.  It sounds like he just kept on playing one incredible ride after another until they finally had to fade out.  Seems as if a lot of their internal anger was being released, resulting in some very emotional music.
