Here's a game based on Pete Frame's rock music family trees. Someone starts off with a band name and then the next person comes up with a band that shared one of the same members. For example, if we start with Jethro Tull, the next person can suggest Fairport Convention because they shared the same bass player Dave Pegg. You could also suggest UK because of keyboard player Eddie Jobson. There are lots of other possibilities.

OK, let's start with the most popular band here ...

Yes.

Nice one. I thought Marillion would get us into a dead end with Fish. So the current band is...

Wolf

Who?  Mick Pointer is in Arena too isn't he? But the lady said Wolf so Wolf it is.

look Wolf up; they are in the archives. they are an all-star band, in a way; all of the members played in other prog-bands too, some of them quite influential ones

Quiet Sun never had Michel Rose as a player that I know of

the rulebook does not say if you are allowed to use the same link twice in a row, but Wolverines is as far as i know not prog (or at least listed in th๋ PA).

Even so , if I give you the pont, is there a way out of Wolverines or Michel Rose, though?

I was thinking of Manzanera and Roxy Music

I did not use McRae twice as link. you gave me McRae, and I picked the Wolverines and gave you Michel Rose to continue. that's following the rules. I have no idea who the Wolverines are though

Actually I gave you Quiet Sun and then I cited the Dave McRae link that allowed me to go from 801 to Quiet Sun

It makes sense if you read the preceding posts

just like when Bob  said Wolf and the link was pointer and from Wolf I gave Daryl Way from wolf to curved air and ..........

The way I understand it is first the group and then justify by giving the musician link to the previous group

oh, but I did not see McRae as the link. in fact I am not even sure he played in 801. at least he does not appear on either of the 2 albums. I thought the link between 801 and Quiet Sun was Phil Manzanera

There were major traffic jams in Holland (as usual) but it was worse because of a snowy conditions, so instead of wasting time in the car, I do it at work - so I can recuperaye it usefully at home later

I read the Wolf review and it wasn't Mick Pointer in Wolf, it was Ian Mosley but anyway the Wolf-Marillion link still stands.

I gather that we've got ourselves into a dead end with a band that only had one member that was in a different band?

Trust BaldJean to suggest some really weird bands!

There are no dead ends in this game. You can always go back the way you came ... or around in loops ....

Yup, just as I thought!!!!!

If the game inventor screws up , how can the players follow the rules???

Wheeew!!!!! I never thought I'd get out of this one and have to admit a fault

Actually , just I like you I had thought also of Mosley, too!!
