Hello everyone, I would like people's opinions on who they think are the best current prog bands.  By current I mean bands that have been making music since, oh around, the early 90's or late 80's.  Personally, I am into classic prog ( E.L.P., Genesis, Yes, King Crimson, Soft Machine).  I do not like the new Prog Metal scene (Flower Kings, I.Q. ect.) or neo prog.  The only new bands I have found and liked are Echolyn and Spock's Beard.  I was getting into Anekdoten (really like the dark sounding strings), but have found they are too much like a King Crimson rip-off.  Does anyone have any current bands for me to look into.

Can't go wrong with Anglagard and Ozric Tentacles

"Progressive.... yeah, that's it..."

Echolyn? Danbo I really wouldn't have guessed.

I don't really know any "new" bands. I'd say,

Threshold, Arena, Angra, echolyn, Porcupine tree, Neal Morse, e.a but to call these bands new???

The requester said "By current I mean bands that have been making music since, oh around, the early 90's or late 80's." That's what I gave him.

Eclipse(Brazilian Band - one place that really seems to be into their prog) - Jumping from Springboards(C.D.)     Heard some 3 tracks - sounds really good - sound like Genesis/Gentle Giant/Jethro Tull(70's) with Ian Anderson vocals + flute

Arise From Thorns - Before An Audience of Stars(C.D.) - Folk Prog - if you like Sandy Denny/Renaissance you would have liked these(although slightly gothic) - now called Brave with some Prog Metal in parts(although eclectic styles)

Brother Ape(American band) - Jazzy/funky prog - Yes/Genesis/Rush influences.Heard some of their songs, which I really liked but can't find anything more about them - American's out there can you help

Some groups mentioned above.
