R_deNIRO & ANAEL:
I agree completely with you!
I think it's a cool idea.
I'm from ARGENTINA, and I would like to make reviews in spanish.
Como se dice acá: es una idea copada!
Saludos a Mexico (qué buena banda es Cast!!) y España (también Galadriel!)

In reviews, it is a great idea IMO... but in forums you should still talk in english so everyone understand each others... My native language is french so I can understand your request .

I don't see any problem in making two languages reviews. The english speakers will understand us, and the not-english speakers (in this case spanish) too.

Of course, it will be nice for the spanish people to have a spanish forum... but if you start that, there will be french forum, italian forum, deutch forum...etc.... That would be the beginning of a non-sense that can grow very big. ANARCHY .... but I know it is so tempting

I think it would be useful for people who feel they really can't express themselves properly in English, but it should be made clear that if possible everyone should review in English. If everyone reviewed in its first language, it would probably be a mess and you wouldn't be able to read most of the reviews.
A Spanish forum would be asking too much, I think, but perhaps we can start a Spanish Thread! (I think I remember a Polish one). Supongo que estaría bueno, no conozco mucho Prog en español, apenas La Máquina, Crucis y Los Jaivas (los tres me encantan).
------------- Suritis: The Remembering.
Hopefully we should appreciate that given points in time are not so significant as the nature of what is impressed on the mind, and how it is retained and used.

Oh, you have to start listening to Yes, dont you know that band?
Rick Wakeman has been a very important part of them, he´s called The Keyboard Wizard, and if you want to know more about him, go to his discography in this site or try http://www.rwcc.com - www.rwcc.com

Then you should really look in the thread by Erik called Spanish Prog in which you'll find an abundance of Prog-Andaluz recommendations. I would also suggest PM Erik Neuteboom for recomm's since he is an expert on the subject.

As Spanish speaker, would be much easier to make reviews in my native language, but Prog Archives has members and visitors from all nationalities and languages, if we start with Spanish, we would follow with Portuguese (Already read some reviews in this language) or in French (Also saw some of those). Where would this end.
Soon we would have reviews in Thai or Japanese language and alphabet and this would be chaotic. There are other forums in Spanish where we can speak in our language, lets keep the order.
I translate this post so those who don't understand our language don't believe we're trying to ignore or confuse them.
Iván

Question 1: How could non-Spanish readers be sure that the section in English is equal to the section in Spanish?
Question 2: (as Iván pointed) Why shouldn't speakers of other languages have the same right?
Question 3: PA rules ask for the use of English in the forums and reviews. To use a dual-language system I think that the rules should be changed first. Don't you agree with me?
Listen, friends, I'm Brazilian, my native language is Portuguese and I can easily read Spanish. I probably write and speak Spanish better than English, but I think that this idea isn't factible (at least, by now). Así, dejemos como está.
However, the use of certain internationally known expressions (in Latin, Greek, French, Spanish, etc) in order to give emphasis to some point in a review can be justified IMO.

What Atkingani says is spot on.
The site is an English only site, as decreed by the owners.
The dual language proposal, while on the face of it reasonable, would be open to abuse.

I don't know Spanish, but I do have an English-Spanish dictionary, and there are online dictionaries, so the idea is not a problem for me. I may not understand the nuances of a language I'm not familiar with, but at the very least, I will spend the time to get the meaning of the review if it appears to be important to me. I've done this for Italian and German reviews I've seen on other sites. I am open to reviews written in all languages and I support this idea.
I think one problem is, are there enough review moderators that can understand all the possible languages that could be used to review titles on this site? What if someone writes an abusive review in a language that none of the moderators knows? In a way, I can see this opening up a can of worms which could create potentially more work for a group of people that are volunteering to maintain this site.
Another issue could be that some people don't have the proper language supports installed on their machine to read non-Roman alphabets. In which case, Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic, Hebrew, Chinese, Japanese and a host of other alphabets would look like gibberish.
If these problems can be addressed, then I don't see a problem with reviews written in multiple languages.
I kind of look at it as, if English speakers don't bother looking at or complain about non-English reviews, then it's their loss, because spending a little time figuring out how to translate another language is not only interesting, but it's a wonderful educational experience. It's also a way of bringing people from different cultures together.

But how can the reviews be moderated if the moderators aren't able to read that second language?
