I voted for PINK FLOYD,

but ELP, JETHRO TULL, YES and CAMEL are my favs too.

It is necessary to mention MOSTLY AUTUMN - in my opinion the best band appeared for the last 20 years.

Great list!

I go with Genesis but could be VDGG or Jethro or Floyd. My list should include Hawkwind and Moody Blues and many others.

For the new bands: Anathema - very good!

At the beginning of my prog awakening, it was pretty much exclusively Rush and Yes, so...Yes.
In fact, as much as I enjoy PF and KC, for me Yes wins by a mile here.

Although as Proctologist said PT is fast becoming a close second...

Man, this list really shows that England has been the best source of good music for a long time.

Pink Floyd by a MILE.

mmmm...this is interesting.

Really expected Yes to rule here (even though not my personal favourite), but the Floyd is giving me a big surprise (also, not a personal favourite).

Sorry all you guys that did not find your favourites listed, but the poll only allows 25 choices. Know there are many great bands out of the list and even though I own some of their albums, had to decide between my personal favourites.

I say Jethro Tull, closely followed by Genesis, VDGG and Yes and Rick Wakeman.

Although the UK has delivered many outstanding progrock bands between 1966 and now, my #1 is Genesis 70-77: wonderful twanging acoustic guitars and flute play, great tension between mellow and heavy/bombastic parts, powerful and inventive electric guitarplay by Hackett, varied and tasteful keyboardwork by Banks, excellent rhythm-section by Rutheford and Collins and mindblowing stage antics and very distinctive vocals by Peter Gabriel. In my opinion no other progrock band succeeded to make such a compelling and captivating progrock as Genesis  etc. ... !

Oh God, what a choice.

It's got to be Camel, though Mostly Autumn are so damn close. I feel a bit guilty because I've spent an hour talking to their bassist Andy Smith this evening at my son's band's gig and he's a really nice bloke. Genesis also come in with a shout and I like Marillion Floyd and Tull a lot as well.

But Camel rule........!

Posted By: Soul Dreamer

Yes, said the Gentle Giant to Marillion when asked about the IQ of Floyd while the Crimson King was listening to Jethro Tull, but prefered Mike Oldfield, and an ELP tried to mount a Camel.

I mean there's so much good music here lets not try to put one in front of the other all the time. For me Yes is the best but what the heck? There's sooo much good music coming from this island it's just incredible.

I voted Tull, as they are closing in on my all time favorite band (Rush) and I love them to death.  Yes, Genesis, and VdGG are all close, but I like Tull better.  Then a level below them I have ELP, Pink Floyd, King Crimson.

now that I have most of the remasters, Jethro are my favorite. It's amazing how good the left over songs from Aqualung, Broadsword and the beast and Warchild were. So many good songs. I'm loving Stormwatch, Heavy horses left over songs alot also. Dotcom is extremely good
