well i have heard about this band for awhile--people saying they are/are not prog and do/do nto belong in the archives...

so the other day i decided to decide for myself.

i picked up The Bends, OK Computer, and Kind A--which were their best reviewed albums (there was a $9.99 sale too!)

anyways i was wondering which of these three albums you guys enjoy the most and also if you think that they belong in the archives.

as for me--in this order are my favorites:

1. OK Computer

2. Kid A

3. The Bends

...and i think they belong in the archives...i like the "dreamy" sound bands like Radiohead, Dredg, Porcupine Tree, etc have and i think they all belong in the archives--they are something new and they do progress album to album--prog is not all divided sections and odd tiems in my opinion--but i understand that's not the opinion of others. well what do you think?

Amnesiac next, definitely - I think it's the only one missing from your collection

Hail to the Thief, is an excellent album , in the same league as Kid OK and Bends...

For me Pablo Honey and Amnesiac are the "weakest" albums...

im a huge Radiohead fan, and my favorite album has been alway The Bends, of course it is not the proggiest of them, but i really enjoy it, OK and Kid A are excellent and beautiful albums.. love them too...

my vote anyway goes to The Bends

haha...well i guess i'll have to get Amnesiac, and then Hail to the Theif...no one says get Pablo Honey so I won't.

Alright thanks--I also really really really like Radiohead--I'm glad I looked past their reputation and discovered what they really were (an amazing band). Alright I'm off to get Amnesiac and Hail to the Theif--I'll tell you how i like them when i return.

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES GO NEAR PABLO HONEY

STEP AWAY FROM THE PABLO HONEY!

It's bad college rock from an REM obsessed band. Even they hate it.

If you haven't been frightened by Kid A then Amnesiac is definitely next on your list, followed by the intermittently excellent Hail to the Thief.

And yes, they should be here.

cool i just bought amnesiac so now all i have left to get is hail to the thief. i'm listening to amnesiac now and it's pretty good so far--although i think it will be a 4-star for me. comparable to the bends. i really love Ok Computer and Kid A...once i get used to Amnesiac though hell who knows it mgith end up being my favorite.

haha and yes they do belong here.

oh and by the way i don't plan on ever buying Pablo Honey based on what I've heard...

OK Computer is the best one listed. Where are the 2 post-Kid A albums?

i hadn't heard them when i posted so i didn't include them in my post...maybe i'll update it w/amnesiac, hail to the theif, and even though no one will vote for it, Pablo Honey--but really everyone has a favorite among these three I'd hope...

Voted for OK Computer, I suggest you get "hail to the theif" next, btw.
All the albums are worth getting eventually

Kid A is my favorite, and probably their most progressive. There's a lot of Eno influence, especially in "Treefingers".

Radiohead is probably the only band more overrated than The Beatles and Coldplay, though The Arctic Monkeys and The Kaiserchiefs are coming up fast.

I couldn't give any of their albums more than 2* and OK Computer is truly dreadful.

And they aren't prog, either.

OKC is my favourite, followed by The Bends.  I still haven't figured out Kid A though, but someday hopefully it will click.  And Radiohead is prog.

IMO Radiohead aren't really that proggy but that doesn't stop them from getting an overall excellence on my check-list. You forgot to put Hail to the Thief on the list- so I voted OK Computer instead. That Paranoid Android is an epic for sure and it helped me get through my depressing high-school days.

'Ok Computer'

I've not been able to get my head around 'Amnesiac' and 'Hail to the Theif' yet. Maybe I'm listening to them in the 'wrong' way??

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

I've never really got into "Hail to the Thief", as it seems to be a bit of a return to basics album - but I think that "Amnesiac" is easier to get into than "Kid A". The two albums are companions really - parts 1 and 2 of a kind of story/concept.

Listen to some early Can - that might help. I'd recommend "Ege Bamyasi" as an "in at the deep end" starter, or "Tago Mago".

Then try "Kid A" or "Amnesiac" - maybe the latter first.

Both albums are growers, and "difficult", BTW - I find that every time I go back to them there seems to be something significant that I missed before and I get into the flow better each time.

Maybe that's just me...
