Hi all,

I'm a final year music student writing a dissertation on Pictures at an Exhibition. If anyone ever saw this played live or know someone who did PLEASE PLEASE e-mail me. I'd love to ask you a few questions!

Thanks a lot.

Matt

Are you talking about the actual concerts where it was first performed and recorded and the video shot... or just performed on tours afterwards.. as an encore?

Cause I was a little too young in 72 to see the recorded performance, but I saw it performed quite a few times on the 74 BSS tour as an encore...

ELP Student:

...Also, do you mean "performed live" solely by ELP?  Or live performances by solo pianists and orchestras performing the original version?

Peace.

I own it and it's by far the best alternative version I've ever heard of it. I suggest our student seeks it out, even though it's not entirely relavent to the question at hand.

'Original' - you are joking, Mussorgski probably played it first in concert in Russia during the 19th century.

For a different prog take on the piece, listen to Mekon Delta's version.
