Choose the worst album.

I choose "In The Hot Seat". How could ELP do this garbage is beyond me. This is horrible pop with poor vocals and musicianship. Boring beyond belief and unlistenable.

Some people find Mars Volta unlistenable. So it may get 1 or 2 votes.

I both love it and hate it. It depends on my mood. It is just too weird and overdone.

For the same reason I put "BE". It is well constructed, but I find it a parody of prog rock. Maybe some people feel the same way.

Yes, Winter.

All of the Yesmen producing something even worse than We Can't Dance. That's Union for you.

concur completely...... I have them all Winter Wine and it by far is the worst of them... even more than OYE. The reason I voted it..... they are all 'bad'.... but this was by the some of the best musicians prog has to offer.  A double 'ouch'  in my book.

None of these, though there are some awful albums (Love Beach, Frances The Mute stand out).

But nothing compares in sheer awfulness to Piper at the Gates of Dawn. Not even Brain Salad Surgery.

But why are Octavarium and Camel on there?

The former is not bad at all and the Camel album is excellent.

(for Piper.... never understood the love for that album)
(for BSS... never understood the hate out there for ELP, that's a masterpiece of prog)

strangely as a fellow Yes fan...  I recommend it.... as your last item in your Yes collection.  We do want our musical heros to recieve just compensation for the near 40 years of musical delicacies they have provided us.  If only to hear the sound of what personal turmoil, and record company intrusion sounds like.

Strangely... I get you! In fact I think a lot of Yes' albums are overshadowed, by themselves!! It's as if they made SO many good albums that only one is a masterpiece (CttE) When In fact they have at least FOUR albums I would award five stars too. I'd like to hear Union just to hear how crap it is, it'd probably prove my point in a way

I voted for Pink Floyd, they did some horrible stuff, yes, even worse than trio Genesis.  Why is Octavarium in this poll?  It clearly doesn't fit genre wise with anything else up here at all.  It's not nearly as bad as a lot of these either.  Good luck trying to make Octavarium sink to the level of Love Beach.

How can a band that had been considered pioneers in prog metal can do such a thing like that!!!

Camel - Self Titled Debut Album ?????!!!

WHAT ? Was that a joke ?? That's so ridiculous I don't even know what to say. It would be the same as putting Yes - The Yes Album in there. SERIOUSLY, does anybody really hate Camel's debut album ?

I agree. Especially considering it's my favorite Camel album. But then again, it's all a matter of taste. Although I respect people's right to listen to TMV (as long as I'm not around), I still consider FTM musical wanckery and cacophonic rubbish.

TMV is hilarious.   Depending on who you ask, they're either complete crap - or the saviours of prog.

After all, nobody else is doing what TMV is.

But, maybe there's a reason for that...

Yes, not all of their albums are bad at all. I just put Octavarium to see how many votes it gets (as for disappointment I guess). Octavarium is disappointing, but not bad.

I'll give you my ratings for each album in there:

1 [4.17%]
0 [0.00%]
2 [8.33%]
1 [4.17%]
5 [20.83%]
3 [12.50%]

0 [0.00%]
0 [0.00%]
0 [0.00%]

Come on people! Octavarium is not THAT bad!
It's good to see DT not repeatng themselves over and over again.
I chose Queensryche, which, in my opinion, have little contribution to prog, sorry.

From this list, and from the albums I actually know, I'd say Union. Luckily I didn't pay too much money for it. Calling All Stations comes close.

I see that I avoided quite some albums on the list that are considered bad by many people. Never listened to Love Beach, The Final Cut and Free As A Bird. Maybe I'm good at reading reviews

Posted By: Moatilliatta
Date Posted: February 06 2006 at 13:19

While a majority of them I will concur are flops, I am baffled not only that Frances the Mute is included, but also that it has multiple votes. Even if it's not one's favorite, how they pick that over Love Beach?

Same with Octavarium. And as far as Camel goes, it isn't a bad album by any means, but it is a bit amateur.

some of were nowhere near as fortunate and had these long before the internet and the outstanding reviews at our disposal.   As several  have said... many of these albums are not ...bad but disappointing more than anything.

Wow.. OK. Well, I guess it is a matter of taste, but I have rarely been so surprised about an opinion ! I think it is a very solid album for a debut, with awesome songwriting and great performances. I think it is definately a 4/5 and one of the best prog debuts I know (atleast from the most known bands)

Pretty horrendous selection (except two or three wrongly included).

I had a tough time selecting one, my finalists were:

  1. Love Beach: Cheesy to an incredible extreme.
  2. Big Generator: Horrendous
  3. Invisible Touch: One good song (The Brazilian) the rest 100% BS.

I had to go with Invisible Touch despite The Brazilian, simply repulsive.

I recently got  Calling all Stations by Genesis (I put it off for so long after all the bad stuff I heard about it) as it turns out its not such a bad CD ... I`d give it  6/10  so its a pass with a push but still its OK I think

Anyway I think Muse - Absolution is crap as for as prog related albums are concerned, boring with contrived wailing vocals, it's b*****ks! All been done before but much better!

Didn't expressed well Atkingani, I was thinking in Spanish (You especially must understand me) and then translated it.

I believe The Brazilian is a great song (honestly) but the rest of the album is horrible.

I tried to say despite The Brazilian, the rest of the album is terrible.
