All of the above?

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

I'm like to say i'm not a nutter but anyone who has read any of my postings here would probably beg to differ.

Not fun suffering from mental illness. Had period of my life when things did not go so well and felt like I was in a black hole, minutes seemed like hours. It was scary stuff indeed.

More focus and attention should be paid to people suffering from these conditions, better support and more understanding in the community.

Gosh, wonder if this is my first serious posting on this forum  (sadly it won't last...)

How this topic is dealt with gets down to how we can respect each other when we talk about it , so far its going well ... nobody is judging anybody infact I respect more people and understand them more through threads like this

First off, I'd like to say: GOOD TOPIC!!! I like that we can be both serious about this and also laugh about it...I think people who have mental conditions (such as myself) can appreciate music more because yes, it does take us away from what we see as a claustrophobic world which is imploding from its own stupidity, but also I recognise the OCD factor and couldn't help smiling because yes, I keep all my CDS in alphabetical order, and the artists within their respective categories are done chronologically (I recently nearly had a fit with Ayreon because I bought a bunch of re-releases and wasn't sure if I should put them under their ORIGINAL release date as opposed to the RE-RELEASE date. I think I settled for the re-release because in many respects it was a new CD, new pressing, new tracks, sometimes even original tracks re-recorded as in Actual Fantasy Revisited.)

Having read my post so far I'm sure you realise I fit into one if not more mental conditions, but I don't mind, because...because...crazy sometimes is good. It's interesting! So don't worry if you're crazy, just turn up the music!

Oh, I also had a dilemma with my VARIOUS ARTISTS section. but I won't get into that.

I'd like to hear people's views on the OCD aspect of prog-lovers, this interests me. Also the insane desire to be perfectionistic.

Mainly I suffer from depression though. I first developed depression when I was in high school, grade 9. I've taken various meds for it, but lately I seem to be coping quite well, especially without the drugs and alcohol

Anyway, enough from me! I ramble...

Keep on proggin'!

I put off buying Various Artists CDs for ages because I didn't know where to put them. I settled for putting them at the end sorted by release date. Classical music is a bit of a bugger though; do I go for composed date, recorded date? Do I organise by performer? Aah, the quandry!

I have this OCD which compels me to own every studio album (no live shows, DVD's or EPS) from a band I really love. As of late it would be Thinking Plague, Univers Zero, Taal, Nil, White Willow etc.

I put my Various Artists at the end of my collection as well (right before my Multimedia/Misc.)...I don't need to put them under V because it's self evident, so I sort them by the actual name of the compilation, ie. 1-13 first (for my self-made compilations), then Heat (for Heat soundtrack) etc. etc. I was going to put Heat under G for Elliot Goldenthal, but only several tracks were composed by Goldenthal and I settled for VA as more appropriate.

The classical one is a good question. Personally, I would organise by performer (so you know who the actual performer is) and the date performed.

Yes, I'm the Dr. Phil of completely useless organisational habits in your music collection that will never actually get you ahead in life (or a real job for that matter). Alas, I find myself sinking in a morass of depression and ineptitude, but at least I have a damn fine sorted collection of music. HAH!

I just re-read some of that and am wondering if any of it made any actual sense?

Yes, I'M not crazy...
