While I love much of ELP's material, I was wondering if I was the only one who thought their albums seemed to fall a bit short from being essential. There are always some great tunes on every one of them, but the albums always seemed to be spotted with |

| Brain Salad Surgery is, in my opinion, the most complete ELP album out there. I have to agree that Benny the Bouncer isn't a favorite of mine, but it's nonetheless an outstanding piece. Jerusalem is wonderful. Toccata is excellent. Still You Turn Me On is |

BSS's place in history is assured; but I will always reach for Trilogy or Works first. I think Greg Lake has never sounded more heartfelt and soulful than he does on these two albums. |

Well after many listens to BSS I have changed my mind. This one would get 4 stars. Still can't call it a masterpiece but I would definitely call it essential. |
