It is a little late, but no one is out yet!  Who will win?  If you want to be daring, pick all four teams to advance to round 2.

Yanks in five

Braves in five

sox in four

cardnials in three

Christ you're right I've just looked at my Atlas and there's just one page on it, that's torn it! North America surrounded by one giant sea,the Great Blinker Ocean!LOL

Sorry, you're right, this map from the "International Big Book Of Maps Of Genuinly Important Places" quite clearly only shows North America. In fact it shows only the USA! I've been living a lie all this timeConfused-I must be a figment of your warped imagination!LOL

that sounds really boring..i hope they do not consider that a sport. Anytime an "athlete" can take a swig of beer in between his dart throwing or bowling for that matter,I would say that cannot be considered a sport then.

To get back to the question..Wink

Went for the Astros. Considering how they've turned around their form over the last couple of months, they are red hot.

Sorry to see the Athletics just missed out though.Cry

Darts? yawn! Now Snooker, thats a game!

Baseball? Isn't that the schoolgirl's game of rounders . And isn't American football just rugby but with girly protective padding and daft helmets?.

And while we're on the subject, FOOTBALL, a game in which one uses one's FEET rather than one's hands.(the clue's in the name.)

(easy guys, easy, it's all good clean fun.)

You know you’re on to something!  Trying to hit a baseball at ninety miles an hour from 60 feet away can make you look very girlie.  Or having a 250 lb linebacker that runs a 40 yard dash in 4.3 seconds hit you at full speed without girly pads on will definitely make you a girl or eunuch.  I think soccer is girly.

Astros and Red Sox in the world series.

Why does your map have Nebraska wiped out?  Not that I care except they produce most of our food and a lot of the worlds there. Just curious.

bravo penguin..,I was going to make the same point until I saw your comment. I mean the average Rugby player weighs between 175-200 lbs and probably comes no where near the 4.3 mark in the 40

Soccer (or shall we give it's propper name of FOOTBALL) is indeed a bloody girls sport. Have you seen how quickly these babies go down under a tackle nowadays??? Not like in the 60's & 70's where footy was a MAN's sport. They had ciggarettes at half time for God's sake and lined their boots with razor blades and breathed fire and....and....(wheeze)....

....I'm of to watch a nice relaxing game of baseball

Reed, you disappoint me I thought you were going to say as baiting posters on forums is your real sport.  Seriously if you came to America and watched the teenagers play this sport you wouldn’t draw that analogy.  Even if you did not like it you could never say fake. Professional athletes do not detract from the sport itself which in some parts of this big old country is like a religion.  Oops forgot you don't do that well either.

BTW I love American Football, but Association Football is the greatest game on Earth, more loved by most people on Earth than the silly American pastimes!

Unfortunately some one had stitched an image of 2 beautiful young men caressing each others glistening bodies, onto the original Jpeg where Nebraska was. So I deleted that bit, so as not to cause offence, or unnecessary titilation.Wink

I consider FC UTRECHT to be a real contender, They're real cup fighters (three times final, two times winner in the last three years. (4 finals three wins last 15 years). and what about Nebraska, the've never won a single match in 100 years of european football?????

(bye the way, for a small club like FC UTRECHT to win the Dutch cub., is like for a small Nebraska football team to enter the final of the world series, WE'VE DONE IT 3 TIMES AND TWO TIMES ON A ROW)

It's about patience and anticipation G. I realise you guys stateside are greedy by nature, have no attention span, and are far more interested in quantity rather than quality, which is why all your popular sports have score lines that change by the minute ( ) but we don't mind waiting 90 minutes to see just one or two artfull goals (Beckam's goal yesterday was pure art, executed with the grace of Nijinsky). Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way, but the rewards are far greater. The Irish too, know what I mean. Yesterday they managed to hold on to a nill-nill draw against France, probably the most talented team in Europe. This earned them a point in the World Cup qualifying round. Well done Ireland. Clap

I enjoyed the Republic Of Ire game.Goals don't have to be going in left right and centre for it to be interesting.Football is a battle that takes you through more highs and lows than you can ever imagine. In a word it's about PASSION.The twenty five thousand Irish fans at the the game in Paris had that in abundance!

I guess he has never watched a baseball game. It doesn't even have a time limit.

But the game he is taking about does.  Maybe we should start talking about the short attention span of the soccer fans.

You could do, but I'd have to pull Cricket out of the bag. A good test series would soon teach you about staying power.

I know that is such a drag.  From MVP 8 years ago to death.   I guess now it comes out he had a cocaine problem.  He was such a great player too. Gave everything out there on the field.  He will be missed.

It is doing quite well.  The pro league does just fine (MLS).  I know here in Southern California the Galaxy are pretty big.  Ist it going to be our national sport of choice? or is this going to reach the level of NBA, MLB or NFL?  Not for  quite a while. THe NHL does OK but is a step below the big three. A lot has do with what you grow up playing. WHile youth soccer has grown over the years when you get to High School  and college the big spots are American football and basketball.

The only Baseball team that rules are THE COLORADO ROCKIES

Sadly they sucked this year (as always) and even traded Larry Walker

Well take satisfaction that he was a big part in destroying my team The LA Dodgers.   Looks like he is going to go the WS.
