The new (February) issue of Uncut Magazine has a decent-sized article on Van der Graaf Generator (who they refer to as 'the coolest, strangest band in prog') called 'Prog is Not a Four Letter Word'.

I've got the Bob Dylan issue of Uncut, so I may seek this out, thanks Jim!

Actually, Uncut isn't a prog mag. It's a mainstream, glossy music/movie mag that can be picked up in your major chain bookstores. It's nice to see VdGG getting coverage in something so "above" ground.

I guess this is the second time I will buy Uncut. Generally not impressed with their formula of mixing music and movies, though.

I am halfway through the VDGG book, and it is lotsa help , but unfortunately I do not like the police character used and the writing style is not of a professional level. Which is of course fully understandable since this was done by fans out of labor of love.

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

Which police character are you talking about Hugues? Are you referring to the chapter which revealed that Inspector Clouseau doubled for Peter Hammill during one of the Italian tours in early '70s.

If you look closely at the two images you can spot the difference

On a slightly more serious level, I do know what you mean about the book, but I think Jim & Phil deserve a lot of credit. I keep dipping back into it all the time.
