DreEm Theeter Rox! (or so I'm informed).
Henry Cow are completely magnificent - I've been listening to their albums for almost 30 years now (with occasional toilet breaks) and I still find them as fresh, stimulating and innovative as ever.

I own Live at Budokan, Train of Thought, and Images and Words.
I listened to InW and was left with impression they ripped off rush's style of prog rock. In short, DT's music is simply an amalgamtion of progressive styles of Rush and the apparent ferocity of Metallica.
DT sucks!!! However, Budokan has its moments

Metallica and 'ferocity', hmm...
Well, yes, Master of Puppets and And Justice... are quite ferocious, not only apparently. It's just that it was so long ago that seeing the two words in one sentence really made disturbed me.
Hang on, this thread is supposed to be about Dream Theater! Very cool band, indeed

But... but... but the title says, I quote - 'Dream Theater'. The title is supposed to say what the thread is about, isn't it? This is its function, isn't it? Isn't it? And 'Dream Theater' means 'Dream Theater', not 'Henry Cow'. 'Henry Cow' means 'Henry Cow'. Or do I have to read that Wittgenstein fellow again?

That wouldn't be prog, Manu...
That Wittgenstein fellow aparently diden't know anything bout prog...
This thread should be called "Gerardo"... or "Ryszard"!
Wouldn't that be prog?

I believe my fav is called "Blackwater Park"...
I totally love the soft synth-pop passages and that electric violin solo at the end of the album...
If the production was a bit more clear then I think that Rhapsody would've made into the MTV euro top 20... Such a loss...

I've heard "In Praise of Learning" - it's got strong moments, but also a lot of pointless noodling, and those vocals really get on my nerves. Overall, though, it left a positive impression.

After Carl Palmer left Jethro Giant to form the first prog supergroup, the famous trio Crosby Stills Nash and Young, Green Day invented punk wave music because they couldn't manage any of the fiddly bits. John Petrucci and James LaBrie had left the Beatles and were studying very hard sums at Cambridge University and never heard any prog music, so they invented their own, which was Henry Cow. Green day laughed at them, so did 50 Cent, so they decided to get Neil Portnoy and Henry Cow became Dream Theater. This was how real prog started. DreEm Theeter RTox!!!!
