They are currently testing the first beta version of the new forum software (version 8).

The new features include:

Much better performance, especially for pages like Active Topics or Forum Start Page
Search function has been expanded and improved
Generated HTML code is now XHTML compliant
Post editor is cross browser, meaning that link highlighting & formatting will work in Firefox
Various other improvements, read the above post for yourself.

I hope that mailto:M@x - M@x will update the forum once the beta testing is done!

Here's some more features of version 8 that are great improvements:

Polls can be edited
Email activation system (user needs to confirm his email address by clicking on an activation link in the email)
More BB Forum codes
Overall improved support for Firefox

Why does it say that the forum is temporarily closed? When I bypass it and click 'Active Topics' and 'Log In' then everything goes properly...

The forum was quite slow in January/February, it's much better since March.
