Do you like phil collins? Been a big genesis fan, ever since the release of their 1980 album, duke. Before that i didnt really understand any of their work, it was too artsy, too intellectual...it was on duke where uh, phil collins presence became more apparent...i think invisible touch is the group's undisputed masterpiece, its an epic meditation on intangibility at the same time it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding 3 albums...christy, take off the robe... listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of banks, collins and rutherford you can practically hear every nuonce of every instrument, sabrina...remove your dress, in terms of lyrical craftsmenship and sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism, sabrina why dont you uh, dance a little! take the lyrics to "Land of Confusion", in this song, phil collins adresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980's, about monogomy and commitment, the song is extremely uplifting...their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as uh, anything ive heard in rock...christy, get down on your knees so sabrina can see your ass....phil collins solo career, it seems to be more commercial...and therefore more satisfying in a narrower way. especially songs like, in the air tonight and against all odds...sabrina dont just stare at it, eat it! I also think, phil collins works best within the confines of the group than as a solo artist, and i stress the word artist! This is sussudio, great, great song...personal favorite.

Well... maybe that's the point. how anyone could kill that many people is beyond me too. if anyone has seen the movie, christian bales character "patrick bateman" is absolutely hilarious...he knows EVERYTHING about the music he listens to, and lectures about whatever he is playing to the person or persons he is about to kill. He is a miserable, insane business man...the movie/book is kind of playing on the stereotypes of major wallstreet business people, and thus the character is hilarious. At one point he goes into the hotel of the man he has just killed and says something all these lines "and in a moment of sheer panic, i noticed john allans apartment window was facing the park, a better view than my apartement and thus a more expensive location" its a hilarious film, and the genesis quote made it even more hilarious for me after becoming a huge gen fan
anyways, he has sex to sussudio after that quote with two girls as he felxes in the mirror, its amazing ------------- "Only the sun knew why"

OK -- my mistake. (I never saw the flic, & not sure that I want to. Movies about murderers are not my cup o' tea, really.) I just didn't like the idea of a serial killer being portrayed as funny and likeable, but if he's not a killer -- yeah, he sounds funny. Another funny know-it-all re music is Jack Black's caustic, elitist record store clerk guy in Grosse Pointe Blanc. Ha! ------------- "And, has thou slain the Jabberwock? Thats what I thought too. It has been a while since I have seen the movie, but at the end he goes back to a crime scene and the place is clean as if nothing ever happened. He was just imagining all that stuff. |

I loved that scene, especially the part where he talks about the early genesis ("Before 1980 they were to complex, etc for me"), nice scene although the film was quite senseless! -------------

I think so too. There are some very funny moments in the book e.g. when they refuse to sell someone "I just called to say I love you" on grounds of taste. |

i love this movie and find this scene hilarious... However my understanding of the ending is that he really did commit the murders and it is that his peers couldnt believe that someone who is rich and successful would do such things... ------------- im not insane, im not insane... im just smarter then you |

Hate to spoil it further... but he most definitely was a serial killer. You missed the point. *Spoiler* The point was (as was better illustrated in the novel than the film) that these businessmen were so shallow and self-centered. He did kill those people. But remember the recurring theme of everyone not remembering eachother's name? For instance when he kills Jared Leto's character, and later on someone says that they had eaten lunch with Leto's character the other day, so he couldn't be dead. Well... he was dead. He just didn't know who the hell he was eating lunch with. These people are so inconsequential and self-centered as that they don't remember anything that doesn't immediately benefit them. That's why Bateman was able to kill all those people and have everyone tell him he didn't kill anyone. No one remembered, you see. *End of Spoiler* Anycase, great film and book. And the Genesis quote was a riot. Oh, this is my first post by the way. So, hello everyone. |
