Im gonna hijack Tony R's thread since he focuses primarily on Rush, whereas the rest of the magazine is also VERY prog heavy

The front cover has a pic of Peter Gabriel and proclaims "The inside story of the Lamb Lies Down On Broadway" - there is a free CD on the cover entitled "Revelations" which promotes 15 new bands for 2006 and was surely a reference to "From Genesis to Revelations".

There is a 6 page spread on the Lamb Lies Down.

A half page item on the Pink Floyd Live 8 show.

A 2 page interview with Alex Liefson.

A 6 page spread on Supertramp.

A half page round-up of prog albums (incl. Riverside,Dead Soul Tribe).

A half page Barclay James Harvest album review and mini-interview.

A 2 page buyers guide on the Frank Zappa discography.

A full page review of the Fish gig in Amsterdam

A half page review of the London Porcupine Tree/Fripp concert.

A half page advert promoting Prog Power UK 2006 featuring Therion, threshold, Pagans Mind, Orphaned Land and 3 other bands.

I have said it before - Prog is alive and well !!!!

For those of us who don't live in England, how can we get a copy?  I didn't see any way to order a single issue on their http://www.classicrockmagazine.com/ - website .

Never mind!

You can order a single issue http://www.myfavouritemagazines.co.uk/store/displayitem.asp?sid=421&id=8955&custid=14@01@200677791@381529809&setext=magazine - here .

Thanks for the info guys.

I haven't bought it yet but have read most of it at the local supermarket-it makes a stimulating alternative to weighing up vegetables and comparing tins of beans...........

UUuhhhhmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!...................

Classy Crock is sometimes correct and can even be acurate in their facts.

But it does make an interesting and entertaining read.

However, they are the only one that has sometimes covered prog from their start.

^ I agree. It has gone downhill badly over the past couple of years and I have stopped my subscription.

My letter of complaint to their editor is so far un-published.

I've always liked the magazine...there always seems to be ome interesting reading.   One of the few magazines I blow my money on that I can virtually read cover to cover.

Anyone know what became of "Progressions"?  I still had a few issues left on my subscription but the last issue I received was the beginning of summer, and the website (last time I bothered to look) hasn't been updated in that time.

I tend to support Classic Rock for generally not giving two hoots about what's cool and what's not and covering bands that no other music mag will. They do tend to give a lot of coverage to bands like G & R and Motley Crue that I personally don't love to be honest, but this month's issue was superb; in fact, the last few have generally seen an upturn as for a while they seemed to lose it with the newer version that came out around a year ago.
